Guide · Anti-ageing facials
Anti-ageing facial in Singapore what helps ageing skin, and what is mostly pampering
Almost every facial menu has an anti-ageing option, and many people search for an anti-aging facial hoping to turn back the clock. Some facials do measurable good for ageing skin; others mainly feel lovely. Here is how to tell them apart, and how to build the routine that does the heavy lifting between visits.

Quick answer
- An anti-ageing facial in Singapore is worth paying for when it does something measurable for ageing skin: hydrating it, calming it, gently resurfacing it or delivering actives such as polynucleotides (PDRN), with LED as a supporting step. Steam, massage and luxury masks feel good but change little on their own.
- Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen and a retinoid at night have the strongest evidence for slowing visible ageing; in a four-and-a-half-year trial, adults who used sunscreen daily showed no detectable increase in skin ageing. Facials work on top of that routine, not instead of it.
- At SkinRev Lab, CityLink Mall: Rejuran® PDRN Facial S$128 to S$348, Needleless SkinBooster S$288 per region (first region from S$98), HydraFacial Syndeo S$288 to S$438 (first-timer rate at the counter) and SKINTIGHT S$588 per zone, all before GST. Injectable skin boosters are performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic and priced at consultation.
- No facial lifts sagging skin or replaces lost volume. Deep lines, hollows, heavy jowls, suspected melasma and any new or changing spot need a doctor's assessment.

What ageing skin actually needs
Skin ages in layers. At the surface, cell turnover slows and the barrier holds water less well, so skin looks dull, rough and dehydrated. In the dermis, collagen and elastin thin, which shows as fine lines and crepiness. Deeper down, fat pads shrink and shift and support loosens, which is what shows as hollows and jowls.
Sun exposure speeds all of this up. In Asian skin, sun damage commonly shows as pigment changes such as sun spots and uneven tone, with a wrinkle pattern that differs from white skin. In Singapore, where UV is high all year, sun protection is the first anti-ageing step.
A facial works mainly on the surface and, with the right actives or energy, the upper dermis. It cannot reach the deeper layers, so it is one part of a plan rather than the whole plan.
What helps
Anti-ageing facials that do something measurable
These are the elements worth paying for. Most work as a course rather than a one-off, and results vary between people.
Look for them by name on a facial menu, and ask how each one is delivered: a serum massaged in by hand reaches less deeply than one delivered with a device, and an injection is a medical treatment.
| Element | What it can do for ageing skin | How strong the evidence is |
|---|---|---|
| Hydration: hyaluronic acid serums and boosters | A plumper look, softer dehydration lines, more comfortable skin | Good for short-term hydration; fades without upkeep |
| Gentle resurfacing: mild acid peel, hydradermabrasion, microplasma | Smoother texture, more even tone, more glow | Small studies; one trial of six hydradermabrasion sessions found thicker skin layers on biopsy |
| Polynucleotides (PDRN, PN) | Hydration, texture and calmer skin over a course | Promising but of low to moderate quality, mostly for injected products |
| Red and near-infrared LED | Modest gains in roughness and fine lines over many sessions | Small controlled trials |
| Energy for collagen: microplasma, focused ultrasound | Gradual firming and smoother texture over weeks | Modest tightening in reviews of focused ultrasound; fewer studies for other devices |
Mostly pampering
What feels good but changes little
Relaxation has value, and a pleasant facial can be a good reason to look after your skin. But some popular anti-ageing elements do little for ageing on their own, so they are worth paying for only if you enjoy them.
Be particularly wary of anything that promises to reverse ageing in one session. Ageing skin changes over months, and so does any real improvement.
- Collagen masks and creams: collagen is too large to pass the skin barrier and become your own; they moisturise the surface.
- Gold, caviar and other luxury ingredients: little published evidence beyond moisturising.
- Steam: softens skin before extraction, but can aggravate redness and dehydration.
- Massage alone: less puffiness for hours, not lasting firmness.
- Exosome and plant ‘stem cell’ claims: very little human evidence; ask what the product actually contains.
- Strong peels or scrubs at every visit: over-exfoliation weakens the barrier and, in Asian skin, raises the risk of dark marks.
The daily routine
Sunscreen and retinoids do the heavy lifting
In a randomised trial in Australia, 903 adults under 55 were assigned to daily broad-spectrum sunscreen or their usual, discretionary use. After four and a half years, the daily group showed no detectable increase in skin ageing, and ageing was 24% less than in the discretionary group. In Singapore's year-round sun, a daily sunscreen of SPF 30 or more, reapplied outdoors, is the foundation of any anti-ageing plan.
Retinoids are the main at-home step for collagen. In a vehicle-controlled trial in 36 older adults, 0.4% retinol applied to the arm for 24 weeks improved fine wrinkles, and biopsies in a small subgroup showed more procollagen. Retinol is sold over the counter; stronger retinoids such as tretinoin are prescription medicines, which Dr Sin Yong prescribes at IN Eternity Clinic after a consultation when appropriate. SkinRev Lab does not prescribe.
Start a retinoid slowly, two or three nights a week, with a moisturiser, and do not use one during pregnancy.
By age
An anti-ageing routine by age: a rough guide
Skin does not follow birthdays: sun, genes, smoking and sleep matter more than the number. Use this as a starting point, not a rule.
At every age the order is the same: protect, then repair, then treat. Add one new step at a time so you can tell what is helping.
| Age | At home | Facials and non-invasive care | When a doctor helps |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20s | Gentle cleanser, moisturiser, daily sunscreen; treat acne early | A cleansing or hydrating facial when needed, such as HydraFacial | Acne that scars, or marks that will not fade |
| 30s | Add a retinoid at night and vitamin C in the morning | Skin-quality courses: needle-free boosters or a Rejuran® PDRN Facial | Early expression lines, suspected melasma |
| 40s | Keep the retinoid and sunscreen; a richer moisturiser if skin is drier | Energy-based tightening for early laxity, such as SKINTIGHT or SKINLIFT® | Volume loss, deeper lines, injectable boosters |
| 50s and beyond | Barrier-friendly products; hormonal changes often dry the skin | Gentle, hydrating facials; calming care for reactive skin | Marked laxity, hollows, any new or changing spot |
Putting it together
How facials fit with retinoids, sunscreen and energy devices
The aim is fewer, well-spaced treatments that each do a clear job, rather than everything stacked into one day. The spacing below follows our own treatment pages; your therapist or doctor may adjust it for your skin.
Use sunscreen every day, and especially after resurfacing, when skin is more sensitive to the sun.
- Pause retinoids, acid toners and scrubs for a few days before a HydraFacial or any facial with peeling or extraction, and skip retinoids for a day or two afterwards.
- Tell your therapist about prescription retinoids, oral isotretinoin, and any recent peel, laser or injection; after a laser or other procedure, wait until your doctor clears you.
- After injectable skin boosters, avoid facial treatments for a day or two.
- Energy-based tightening, such as SKINTIGHT or SKINLIFT®, can sit alongside facials across a course; a common pattern is to alternate a Rejuran® PDRN Facial with SKINLIFT®.
- Keep cleansing facials to about every four to six weeks; more often is not better for an ageing barrier.

Evidence
PDRN, boosters and LED: what the research says, honestly
Polynucleotides are the active in many regenerative facials. A 2025 systematic review found nine studies, of low to moderate quality, covering 219 patients who had polynucleotide injections; results for wrinkles, texture and elasticity were promising, side effects were mild and transient, and the authors called for better trials. Most of this research is on injections. A needle-free facial delivers a cosmetic-grade product through intact skin, so its effect is gentler, and injection results cannot simply be assumed to carry over.
Injected hyaluronic acid has firmer data: a 2025 meta-analysis found improved hydration and radiance compared with controls, without a significant change in elasticity. Injectable boosters are medical treatments, performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic and priced at consultation; SkinRev Lab does not inject.
For LED, a controlled trial of 30 twice-weekly sessions found less roughness and higher collagen density than in untreated controls. For hydradermabrasion, a study of 20 women found thicker skin layers on biopsy after six sessions, while the same serum applied by hand changed nothing. These are encouraging but small studies, so treat dramatic anti-ageing claims with caution.
When it is medical
When ageing skin needs a doctor, not a facial
A facial cannot lift heavy sagging, fill hollows or treat pigment disorders. The signs below point to a doctor's assessment first.
In our network, Dr Sin Yong assesses these at IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza, beside Orchard MRT. Injectables, prescriptions and medical lasers are done there and priced at consultation; SkinRev Lab does not inject or prescribe.
- Deep lines that show at rest, or lines from strong expressions.
- Hollow cheeks, temples or under-eyes from lost volume.
- Heavy jowls or folds of loose skin.
- Brown patches on both cheeks that may be melasma.
- Any spot that is new, changing, bleeding or irregular; sun-exposed skin should be checked.
- Persistent redness, scaling or itch.

Common questions
Your questions,
answered
Which facial is good for anti-ageing?
One that does something measurable: hydration, gentle resurfacing, polynucleotides (PDRN) or energy for collagen, ideally as a course. At SkinRev Lab, common choices are the Rejuran® PDRN Facial, Needleless SkinBooster, HydraFacial Syndeo and SKINTIGHT, matched to your skin at an assessment.
Do anti-ageing facials really work?
They can improve hydration, texture and glow, and some have small studies behind them. They do not lift sagging skin or replace volume, and the effect fades without upkeep. Daily sunscreen and a retinoid do more for long-term ageing than any single facial.
At what age should I start anti-ageing facials?
There is no set age. Sunscreen should start now, whatever your age; a retinoid is often added from the late 20s or 30s; skin-quality courses and energy-based tightening usually make more sense from the 30s and 40s, depending on your skin.
How often should I get an anti-ageing facial?
A cleansing and hydrating facial is commonly repeated every four to six weeks. Skin-quality courses, such as needle-free boosters, are often spaced every two to four weeks and then maintained. Your therapist should plan the interval for your skin.
Is HydraFacial anti-ageing?
It hydrates, exfoliates and cleans the skin, which can soften the look of fine dehydration lines for a while. No published study shows it builds new collagen, so for firmness combine it with a retinoid, sunscreen and, if needed, energy-based treatment.
Is a Rejuran® facial good for ageing skin?
It can help hydration, texture and calmer skin across a course. The needle-free facial uses cosmetic-grade c-PDRN and works more gently than injected polynucleotides, whose evidence is promising but of low to moderate quality.
Can I use retinol before a facial?
Pause retinoids, acid toners and scrubs for a few days before a HydraFacial or any facial with peeling or extraction, and for a day or two afterwards. Tell your therapist if you use a prescription retinoid or have taken oral isotretinoin.
How much is an anti-ageing facial in Singapore?
At SkinRev Lab: Rejuran® PDRN Facial S$128 to S$348, Needleless SkinBooster S$288 per region (first region from S$98), HydraFacial Syndeo S$288 to S$438 and SKINTIGHT S$588 per zone, all before GST. Injectable boosters at IN Eternity Clinic are priced at consultation.
Facial or skin booster for ageing skin?
A facial works on the surface; a needle-free booster targets one region more directly; an injected booster places hyaluronic acid or polynucleotides in the dermis. Many people use a facial for upkeep and a booster course for skin quality.
