Regenera Activa is an autologous micrografting treatment for thinning hair — autologous meaning everything used comes from your own body. People searching for Regenera Activa Singapore information usually want to know whether it is a hair transplant. It is not. A few very small punch samples, each about 2.5 mm across, are taken from the back or sides of the scalp, where follicles are less affected by pattern hair loss. These are processed into a fine suspension and placed into the thinning areas in a single outpatient visit.

The treatment is performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic under local anaesthetic, with no sedation and no strip of donor skin. Because it does not move follicles from one place to another, it cannot create hair where none is growing. Its role is to support existing follicles in areas that are thinning, for men with pattern hair loss and for women with diffuse thinning over the crown and parting.

How it works

The mechanism,
in plain English

The tissue samples are placed in a single-use, sterile mechanical device that breaks them down and filters them into micrografts of roughly 80 microns. That suspension contains progenitor cells from the follicle, signalling proteins and fragments of the supporting tissue matrix, all from your own scalp. There is no enzyme digestion, culturing or laboratory step, so the whole process is completed while you wait.

The suspension is injected into the scalp across the thinning zones in a planned pattern. The idea is that these cells and signals act on nearby follicles that are miniaturising, helping them stay longer in the growth (anagen) phase and produce thicker hairs. The effect builds over months as follicles cycle. The exact biology is still being studied, and the technique depends on the presence of follicles that are weakened but still alive.

“Regenera Activa supports hair that is thinning; it does not relocate follicles, so it cannot fill an area that is already bald.”

Is it right for you

Who it suits,
and who it does not

Regenera Activa suits men with early to moderate pattern hair loss and women with pattern thinning who still have plenty of fine hairs in the affected areas. It can be a useful choice for people who cannot take, or prefer not to rely on, prescription medication, and it can be combined with medical treatment and H2LT laser. It also suits people who want a one-visit procedure rather than frequent appointments, accepting that results are judged over months.

It is not suitable where hair loss is extensive and few follicles remain, and it is not a substitute for a hair transplant in bald areas. It is not used for scarring alopecias, active scalp infection or inflammation, bleeding disorders, or during pregnancy. People on blood-thinning medicines, with certain autoimmune or medical conditions, or with a tendency to poor wound healing need this discussed in detail. If loss is sudden or patchy, the cause is investigated first.

Non-invasive alternative at SkinRev Lab

Hairline & Scalp Micropigmentation — Hairline & Scalp Micropigmentation at SkinRev adds tiny pigment impressions to make the scalp look denser. It changes appearance only and does nothing for follicle health, so it suits people who want an immediate visual effect or have areas that are already bald, while Regenera Activa aims to support the hair that is still growing. What to expect

Consultation, session
and aftercare

At consultation, Dr Sin Yong confirms the type and stage of your hair loss with a history, magnified scalp examination and, where indicated, blood tests. Baseline photographs are taken. If Regenera Activa fits, the procedure is booked as a single visit, and any additional sessions or maintenance are discussed and planned at consultation. You are advised on stopping any medicines that affect bleeding, if safe to do so.

On the day, the donor and treatment areas are numbed with local anaesthetic. The samples are taken, processed in front of you and injected back into the thinning zones, and you go home the same day. Expect tenderness for a few days, possible mild swelling that can drift towards the forehead, and small scabs at the donor sites. Strenuous exercise, swimming and hair colouring are paused for the advised period. Hair change is judged over the following months.

What the research says

The evidence,
with sources

The most rigorous published study of scalp micrografts is a placebo-controlled, randomised, evaluator-blinded half-head study in men and women with androgenetic alopecia: after 58 weeks, the treated side showed a significant increase in hair count and density compared with the placebo side, although some participants showed renewed hair loss after about two years and were retreated. A separate clinical and histological study reported improved hair density and a shift from resting towards growing hairs at 4, 6 and 12 months.

A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis concluded that autologous micrograft technology produced small but significant improvements in hair count, of a similar size to a standard oral prescription treatment, and described the evidence as preliminary. In plain terms, the early research behind Regenera Activa Singapore patients can have at IN Eternity Clinic is encouraging but based on small studies, so Dr Sin Yong treats it as one tool within a broader plan.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

Regenera Activa Singapore: is it the same as a hair transplant?

No. A hair transplant moves whole follicles from the back of the scalp into bald or thin areas, which takes many hours and leaves a donor scar or many tiny ones. Regenera Activa takes only a few tiny samples, breaks them down into micrografts and injects the suspension to support follicles that are already there. It cannot create new hair in an area that is completely bald.

How much does Regenera Activa cost?

Pricing is given at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic. The cost depends on the size of the area being treated and whether the plan includes other treatments such as medication or H2LT laser. Dr Sin Yong first checks that Regenera Activa is suitable for your type and stage of hair loss, and you see the complete plan and cost before deciding.

Does Regenera Activa hurt?

The scalp is numbed with local anaesthetic, so most people feel the sting of the numbing injections and then pressure rather than pain. Afterwards the scalp is usually tender for a few days and simple pain relief is enough for most people. Some swelling may move down towards the forehead for a day or two before settling.

Will there be scars?

The donor samples are very small, about 2.5 mm each, and are taken from the back or sides of the scalp where surrounding hair usually covers them. They form small scabs that heal over about a week. Most people find the marks hard to see once healed, but anyone with a history of keloids or poor healing should mention it at consultation.

How soon will I see a change?

Hair follicles respond over several growth cycles, so change is judged over months rather than weeks. Progress is compared with standardised baseline photographs at review. Some people notice less shedding first, followed by thicker hairs in the treated zones. Individual results vary, and because pattern hair loss continues, maintenance or additional treatment may be suggested later.

Can women have Regenera Activa?

Yes. Women with pattern thinning over the crown and parting can be suitable, provided enough follicles remain. Women's hair loss often has more than one cause, so blood tests for iron, thyroid and hormonal factors are usually part of the assessment, and any deficiency is corrected as well. Regenera Activa is not done during pregnancy.
