Quick answer

  • Pinchable pockets of fat that ignore diet and exercise can often be contoured without surgery. The first step is working out whether it is fat, loose skin or something deeper.
  • Non-invasive at SkinRev Lab (CityLink Mall): SKINSHAPE®, SKINUSHAPE, SKINSCULPT®.
  • Medical, performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic (Pacific Plaza, Orchard): 4K Body Lift, Onda Pro, Fat Freezing.
  • Assessment first; individual results vary. Medical pricing is given at consultation.

Stubborn fat is the soft layer that stays on the lower tummy, love handles, inner thighs, upper arms or bra line even when your weight is steady and you exercise regularly. If you are looking at stubborn fat removal in Singapore, it helps to understand what that layer is. It sits under the skin and above the muscle, and the number and size of fat cells in each area is partly set by genes and hormones, which is why some zones barely change with effort.

Not every bulge is the same. Fat you can pinch between two fingers is subcutaneous fat, and that is the layer body-contouring devices are designed to reach. Fullness that feels firm and cannot be pinched, especially across the upper tummy, is often visceral fat around the organs, which no device can target. A soft overhang after pregnancy or weight change may be mostly loose skin or a gap between the tummy muscles rather than fat.

That distinction decides the plan. Localised, pinchable fat in someone near a stable weight tends to respond to energy-based contouring. Loose skin needs tightening, separated muscles may need a different approach entirely, and general excess weight is a health conversation rather than a contouring one. Contouring changes shape in a defined area over weeks; it is not a way to change your overall body weight.

“A device can reshape a pinchable pocket of fat, but it cannot reach the deeper fat around the organs, so we will say so if that is what your tummy is showing.”

— Dr Sin Yong, IN Eternity Clinic
Layer involved
Subcutaneous fat, between the skin and the abdominal or limb muscles
Pinch test
Fat you can pinch is subcutaneous; firm fullness you cannot pinch is often visceral fat behind the abdominal wall
Common zones
Lower abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, upper arms, bra line, under the chin
Energy types used
Controlled cold (cryolipolysis), microwave energy at 2.45 GHz, radiofrequency, focused ultrasound
How change appears
Treated fat cells are cleared gradually by the body, so shape changes develop over several weeks rather than on the day
What it is not
A substitute for overall weight management or a fix for visceral fat

What goes where

The honest ladder:
non-invasive first, medical when it is needed

At SkinRev Lab · non-invasive

SKINSHAPE® — Uses Miglou second-generation microwave energy to heat and contour a defined zone of pinchable fat, such as the lower tummy or flanks. It works area by area and suits mild to moderate pockets rather than large volumes. Read more

SKINUSHAPE — Guided ultrasound body contouring aimed at thicker, deeper fat layers in a single zone. It does not tighten loose skin, so it is paired with a skin-focused option when laxity is part of the picture. Read more

SKINSCULPT® — HIFEM electromagnetic stimulation that makes the underlying muscle contract strongly, which can improve tone under the fat layer. It is a muscle treatment first; on its own it is not the main tool for a thick layer of fat. Read more

4K Body Lift — Delivers radiofrequency through insulated microneedles (CLASSYS Secret Duo) at two depths, one near the fibrous septa of the fat layer and one in the deeper dermis, to address compact fat and skin laxity together. Performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic. How it works

Onda Pro — DEKA Onda Pro uses Coolwaves microwave energy at 2.45 GHz, absorbed mainly by fat while the skin surface is cooled. It suits pinchable fat on the abdomen, flanks, thighs and arms, and is performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic. How it works

Fat Freezing — Cryolipolysis cools a pinched roll of fat to a temperature fat cells tolerate less well than skin, and the body clears the affected cells over the following weeks. It is most suited to well-defined, pinchable bulges and is performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic. How it works

Enquiries to SkinRev Lab about medical treatments are passed to IN Eternity Clinic, where Dr Sin Yong performs them.

Start with a non-invasive option at SkinRev if your weight has been stable for a few months, the area is soft and pinchable, and you mainly want a smoother outline in one or two zones. See the doctor at IN Eternity Clinic first if the fullness is firm and cannot be pinched, if there is a lot of loose skin or a visible ridge down the middle of your tummy after pregnancy, if you have had a hernia, abdominal surgery or an implanted device, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. A doctor should also assess any lump that feels different from the surrounding fat, is growing or is tender, because that needs a diagnosis rather than contouring.

What the research says

The evidence,
with sources

Reviews of non-invasive fat reduction have looked at cold, radiofrequency, focused ultrasound and low-level laser devices across thousands of treated people. They report circumference reductions in the order of a couple of centimetres over the abdomen, hips and thighs, with mostly mild and short-lived side effects, while noting that study designs, treatment settings and follow-up periods vary widely. For cryolipolysis specifically, a systematic review found measurable reductions in fat thickness on calipers and ultrasound in localised areas, with no meaningful effect on blood lipids or liver tests.

Safety data matter as much as results. A systematic review of cryolipolysis side effects found that redness, numbness, bruising and swelling were common and usually settled, but also documented rarer problems such as prolonged pain, nerve irritation and paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, where the treated fat becomes firmer and larger instead of smaller. For microwave contouring, an international expert group has published recommendations on patient selection and settings, while acknowledging that long-term efficacy and safety data are still limited. Individual results vary.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

What is the most suitable stubborn fat removal in Singapore for me?

It depends on what the area is made of. Soft, pinchable fat in one or two zones usually suits non-invasive contouring, which SkinRev handles. If the bulge is firm, comes with loose skin or a muscle gap, or you have relevant medical history, the doctor-led options at IN Eternity Clinic are more appropriate. A short assessment of the area, including a pinch test, is the honest starting point.

Is stubborn fat removal in Singapore a way to lose weight?

No. Contouring treatments change the shape of a defined area by reducing fat in that zone over several weeks. Your weight on the scale often barely changes, because the volume treated is small. If your goal is to bring down overall weight or improve health markers, a doctor-supervised weight management plan is the right conversation, and contouring can come later for any areas that remain.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies with the thickness of the fat, the size of the area and the method. Some people see enough change from a single round in a small zone, while others need a short course spaced several weeks apart. For SkinRev options, the therapist suggests a plan after checking the area. For medical treatments, a course is usually planned at consultation with Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic.

Does it hurt, and is there downtime?

Most people describe warmth, deep heat, cold or tingling depending on the device, and settings are adjusted for comfort. With non-invasive contouring, people usually go straight back to work. After cryolipolysis or microneedle radiofrequency, the area can feel tender, swollen, numb or bruised for days to a couple of weeks. Your provider will explain what is typical for the method you choose.

How much does it cost?

At SkinRev, SKINSHAPE and SKINUSHAPE are S$288 per zone, and SKINSCULPT is S$288. For medical treatments at IN Eternity Clinic, such as Onda Pro, 4K Body Lift or fat freezing, pricing is given at consultation once Dr Sin Yong has assessed the area and agreed a plan with you, because it depends on the number of zones and sessions.

Can the fat come back after treatment?

Treated fat cells are cleared by the body, but the remaining fat cells in that area and elsewhere can still enlarge if you gain weight. Keeping your weight stable, staying active and eating well help maintain the new contour. Contouring is not a shield against future weight gain, and people who gain weight after treatment may notice fullness return.
