Why men book

The concerns men usually bring

Men's skin does not need a different kind of facial, but some concerns turn up more often. In a study of 60 adults whose pores were measured with a dermoscopic camera, larger pores were linked with higher sebum (oil) output, older age and male sex, with oil output showing the strongest link. Singapore's heat and humidity keep oil glands busy all year.

• Oily skin and shine by early afternoon, especially on the forehead and nose.
• Enlarged-looking pores and blackheads on the nose, inner cheeks and chin.
• Razor irritation: tightness, redness and dryness after shaving, and bumps in the beard area.
• Dull, tired-looking skin, often noticed under office lighting or in photos.
• Breakouts on the jaw, chest or back, which need a doctor's view if they are deep or painful.

HydraFacial Syndeo

For oil, blackheads and post-shave dryness

HydraFacial Syndeo is the usual starting point for men at SkinRev Lab, our non-invasive aesthetic centre at CityLink Mall. In one 45-minute session it cleanses and exfoliates with a mild glycolic and salicylic acid blend, then a Vortex-Fusion® tip uses gentle suction to lift blackheads and congestion while hydrating, and finally infuses a serum blend chosen for your skin. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble and works inside the pore, which is why it suits oily, congested skin.

Men also book it for post-shave hydration, because freshly shaved skin often feels tight and dry. It is a cleansing and hydrating facial, not a treatment for ingrown hairs or razor bumps. If those keep coming back, a doctor can check whether something else is going on.

Signature is S$288, Deluxe S$388 and Platinum S$438, before GST; Deluxe adds a targeted booster and LED support, and Platinum adds premium steps throughout. Very sensitive skin may flush briefly, usually settling within an hour, and most men go straight back to the office.

SKINLDM and Rejuran®

For reactive skin, texture and marks

SKINLDM uses dual-frequency ultrasound micro-massage, with no light energy and no needles, to calm red, irritated or breakout-prone skin. A session takes about 30 minutes including a basic facial and costs S$288 before GST, with a first-visit rate of S$68. It can be done while skin is actively irritated, which is when many treatments have to wait. It calms the skin; it does not treat scars.

The Rejuran® PDRN Facial delivers cosmetic-grade c-PDRN, a salmon-derived polynucleotide, through the skin with Meso Touch transdermal technology, with no needles. It is chosen for texture, post-acne marks and sensitised skin, and works gradually across a course. Sessions run 60, 75 or 90 minutes, from S$128 for the Singapore Essential to S$348 for the Korea Professional (Scalp), before GST.

Practical

Fitting it into a working day

SkinRev Lab is at CityLink Mall #B1-28, 1 Raffles Link, underground between City Hall MRT (EW13/NS25) and Esplanade MRT (CC3). City Hall is one stop from Raffles Place and two from Marina Bay, so a session fits around office hours in the CBD. We are open daily from 11am to 8pm, including weekends.

• Lunch break: HydraFacial Syndeo (45 minutes) or SKINLDM (about 30 minutes).
• After work or at the weekend: a Rejuran® PDRN Facial, which needs 60 to 90 minutes.
• Tell us at booking if you use retinoids or are on prescription acne medication, so the session can be planned around it.

Waxing

Men's waxing at the same centre

Men's waxing is a proper part of the SkinRev Lab menu: chest, back, shoulders, full legs and Boyzilian, in a closed room with one therapist. Prices sit in four bands, GST included: Small S$28, Medium S$48, Large S$68 and Extra Large S$118, with a first-visit rate on one area.

If you want long-term hair reduction rather than waxing every four to six weeks, we will point you to laser hair removal, performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic and priced at consultation by the clinic.

When a facial is not the answer

SkinRev Lab is a non-invasive aesthetic centre, not a clinic. Some concerns need a doctor, and we would rather say so at the first visit than sell a course that cannot reach the problem.

• Deep, painful lumps or cysts, acne that leaves dark marks or dents, or acne that has not improved after around three months of steady over-the-counter care. Deep or cystic spots should not be extracted.
• Established acne scars. Ice pick, boxcar and rolling scars are treated with procedures such as fractional CO2 laser, subcision and TCA CROSS, which a doctor performs.
• Bumps in the beard area that keep returning, become painful or leave marks.
• Thinning hair or a receding hairline. Most male hair loss is pattern hair loss and is progressive, so a proper diagnosis comes first.
