Cellulite Treatment in Singapore
Cellulite is a structural pattern in the skin, not a sign that you are unfit. It can be softened, but it is worth knowing what the evidence really supports.

Quick answer
- Cellulite is a structural pattern in the skin, not a sign that you are unfit. It can be softened, but it is worth knowing what the evidence really supports.
- Non-invasive at SkinRev Lab (CityLink Mall): SKINSHAPE®.
- Medical, performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic (Pacific Plaza, Orchard): Onda Pro.
- Assessment first; individual results vary. Medical pricing is given at consultation.
Cellulite is the dimpled, orange-peel or mattress-like texture that appears on the thighs, buttocks and sometimes the lower tummy or upper arms. It is extremely common in women after puberty, including slim and active women, and it is often more noticeable when you squeeze the skin, sit down or stand under harsh lighting. People searching for cellulite treatment in Singapore usually want to know two things: why it happens, and whether anything genuinely improves it.
Under the skin, fat sits in small lobules separated by vertical bands of connective tissue called fibrous septa, which anchor the skin to the deeper layers. In women these bands tend to run vertically and the fat lobules are taller, so fat can bulge upwards between the anchoring points while the bands pull down, creating the dimples. Thinner skin with age, hormonal influences, fluid retention and weight gain can all make the pattern more visible.
Because cellulite involves the skin, the fat and the septa together, treatments that act on just one layer tend to give partial or temporary change. Energy-based methods aim to heat the fat and the septa and stimulate collagen in the dermis, which can smooth the surface for many people. A realistic goal is softer, less obvious dimpling, not skin that looks airbrushed. Cellulite is also graded by severity, from dimples that appear only when pinched to dimples visible at rest, and that grade shapes the plan.

“Cellulite is the way connective tissue anchors female skin, so we aim to soften it rather than promise to erase it.”
— Dr Sin Yong, IN Eternity Clinic
- What it is
- A surface pattern caused by fat bulging between fibrous septa that tether the skin downward
- Common areas
- Outer and back of thighs, buttocks, lower abdomen, upper arms
- Layers involved
- Dermis, superficial fat lobules and the fibrous septa between them
- Why women more often
- Taller fat lobules and fewer, weaker septal connections at the subdermal junction
- Energy types used
- Microwave energy at 2.45 GHz, other heat-based devices, mechanical and surgical release of septa
- What makes it worse
- Thinning skin with age, weight gain, fluid retention, prolonged sitting
What goes where
The honest ladder:
non-invasive first, medical when it is needed
At SkinRev Lab · non-invasive
SKINSHAPE® — Miglou microwave contouring warms the superficial fat and surrounding tissue in a treated zone, which can make mild to moderate dimpling look smoother. It is less suited to deep, fixed dimples where tight septa are the main problem. Read more

Onda Pro — DEKA Onda Pro delivers 2.45 GHz Coolwaves microwave energy that is absorbed mainly by fat and also heats the fibrous septa, with the skin surface cooled during treatment. It is used for moderate cellulite on the thighs and buttocks and is performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic. How it works
Enquiries to SkinRev Lab about medical treatments are passed to IN Eternity Clinic, where Dr Sin Yong performs them.
A non-invasive course at SkinRev suits people with mild to moderate, soft dimpling that shows mainly when the skin is pinched or in certain light, who want a gradual improvement in texture. See the doctor at IN Eternity Clinic first if the dimples are deep and visible even when standing relaxed, if cellulite sits with a lot of loose skin or pinchable fat in the same area, or if you have varicose veins, swelling of the legs, a history of blood clots, skin infection, or an implanted metal or electronic device. Sudden, one-sided leg swelling or skin that is red, hot and painful is not cellulite and needs prompt medical review. If you are unsure which group you fall into, SkinRev can route your enquiry to IN Eternity Clinic for a doctor's view before you start anything.

What the research says
The evidence,
with sources
Anatomy studies help explain why cellulite affects women far more than men. A cadaver study of the buttock found that men had more septal connections between the skin and the underlying fascia, and those connections needed more force to break, while women had taller superficial fat lobules. The authors describe cellulite as an imbalance between the forces that hold fat in and those pushing it outward, which worsens with age and higher body weight. A later review of treatment studies concluded that the fibrous septa play a central role, which is why approaches that act on the septa tend to be more durable.
The overall quality of cellulite research is modest. A systematic review of 67 studies found that many had important design flaws and concluded that no treatment showed clear evidence of good efficacy at that time. Newer work on microwave energy includes a small uncontrolled study in 26 women treated on the buttocks and back of the thighs, which reported lower cellulite severity scores at three months with no serious side effects. These findings are encouraging but not definitive, and the study had no untreated comparison group, so expectations should be set at a visible softening that varies between individuals.

Common questions
Your questions,
answered
Which cellulite treatment in Singapore actually works?
No single method removes cellulite for everyone, and the research is still developing. Treatments that heat the fat and the fibrous bands, or physically release those bands, tend to give the most noticeable softening. For mild, soft dimpling, SKINSHAPE at SkinRev is a reasonable start. For more established cellulite, microwave treatment with Onda Pro at IN Eternity Clinic is the medical option.
Can I get rid of cellulite by losing weight or exercising?
Staying active and keeping a steady weight can make cellulite less obvious, because extra fat pushes harder against the fibrous bands. However, many lean and fit women still have cellulite, since the pattern comes from skin and connective-tissue structure. Exercise improves muscle tone underneath, which helps the surface look smoother, but it rarely removes the dimples completely.
How many sessions of cellulite treatment in Singapore are usually needed?
Most energy-based approaches are done as a short course rather than a single visit, because collagen and tissue changes build up over weeks. The exact plan depends on how deep the dimples are and the size of the area. At SkinRev, the therapist suggests a plan after checking the area; for Onda Pro, a course is usually planned at consultation with Dr Sin Yong.
Is treatment uncomfortable, and is there downtime?
Microwave treatments create a deep warmth while the surface is cooled, and settings are adjusted to keep you comfortable. Afterwards the skin may look pink and feel warm for a few hours, and treated areas can be tender or slightly swollen for a day or two. Most people return to work and normal activities the same day.
How much does it cost?
At SkinRev, SKINSHAPE is S$288 per zone. For Onda Pro at IN Eternity Clinic, pricing is given at consultation after Dr Sin Yong has examined the areas and discussed how many zones and sessions are sensible for you, as these vary considerably between people. You will know the full plan before you commit to it.
Do creams or massage help cellulite?
Some topical products and massage techniques can make the skin look temporarily smoother by improving hydration or reducing fluid, but the effect usually fades within days. They do not change the fibrous septa that cause the dimpling. Daily sunscreen on exposed areas and avoiding long periods of sitting help keep skin quality up, and can be combined with a clinical course.
