Women who search for female hair loss treatment Singapore options usually describe one of two things: a parting that looks wider and a ponytail that feels thinner, or sudden handfuls of hair in the shower. These are different problems. At IN Eternity Clinic, female hair loss treatment is a doctor-led programme performed by Dr Sin Yong. It begins with a diagnosis, then combines the right mix of correcting deficiencies, prescription medication where suitable, H2LT laser and, for some women, Regenera Activa micrografting.
Female pattern hair loss causes gradual thinning over the crown and parting, while the front hairline is often kept. Telogen effluvium is a burst of shedding two to three months after a trigger such as childbirth, illness, surgery, crash dieting or major stress. Low iron stores, thyroid problems and hormonal conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome can cause or worsen both. Tight hairstyles, patchy alopecia areata and scarring conditions are less common but important to recognise early.

How it works
The mechanism,
in plain English
In female pattern hair loss, each hair's growth phase becomes shorter with successive cycles and the follicle slowly miniaturises, so thick terminal hairs are replaced by finer, shorter ones. Hormones play a part, but many women with pattern thinning have normal hormone blood tests. Treatment aims to lengthen the growth phase and slow miniaturisation in follicles that are still active, using prescription medication applied to the scalp or taken by mouth, chosen after a medical review and with pregnancy plans in mind.
Shedding conditions work differently. A trigger pushes a large number of follicles into the resting phase at the same time, and those hairs fall out together weeks later. If the trigger is removed and any deficiency is corrected, most follicles return to growth on their own. In-clinic treatments such as H2LT low-level laser, which supports follicle energy and growth signalling, and Regenera Activa, which uses micrografts of your own scalp tissue, can be layered on where thinning persists.
“Shedding and thinning are not the same problem — treating a hair-cycle disorder as pattern loss, or the other way round, is the commonest reason women feel nothing has worked.”

- Common causes
- Female pattern hair loss, shedding after a trigger (telogen effluvium), low iron, thyroid and hormonal conditions
- Assessment
- History, magnified scalp examination, and blood tests such as iron stores, thyroid function and hormones where indicated
- Target layer
- Hair follicles and the dermal papilla in the deep dermis of the scalp
- Typical session
- H2LT laser visits take about 15–20 minutes; medication is used at home
- Downtime
- Usually none for medication and laser; micrografting brings a few days of tenderness

Is it right for you
Who it suits,
and who it does not
This suits women with a widening parting or thinning crown, women still shedding heavily more than a few months after childbirth, and anyone whose hair changed noticeably after illness, dieting or a stressful period. It also suits women who have tried supplements or salon scalp treatments without a clear diagnosis, and those with known iron, thyroid or hormonal problems who want their hair addressed as part of the bigger picture. Early assessment matters, because follicles that are still active respond better.
Some prescription options are not suitable during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or for women planning pregnancy soon, so the plan is adapted and contraception may need discussing. Scarring alopecias, which can cause a receding front hairline or loss of eyebrows in older women, and patches with redness, scaling or pain need specialist dermatology care and sometimes a biopsy. Areas that are completely bald are unlikely to regrow with medical treatment. If hair loss comes with heavy periods, weight change or tiredness, those are investigated first.
Non-invasive alternative at SkinRev Lab
Rejuran® Scalp Care — Rejuran® Scalp Care at SkinRev is a PDRN scalp-care session, delivered without needles, for scalp comfort and condition. It does not diagnose or treat the cause of hair loss, so it suits women whose thinning has already been assessed by a doctor, or as gentle scalp care alongside a medical plan. Read more
What to expect
Consultation, session
and aftercare
The first visit with Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic covers when the loss began, your periods, pregnancies, diet, recent illness, stress, hair care habits and current medicines. The scalp is examined under magnification to check hair thickness, density and the scalp itself. Blood tests are usually arranged to look at iron stores, thyroid function and, where relevant, hormones. Baseline photographs are taken so progress can be compared fairly.
Once results are back, you get a plan that may combine correcting any deficiency, prescription medication, H2LT laser or micrografting; a course is usually planned at consultation, with maintenance afterwards. Reviews include repeat blood tests where needed. Many women first notice less shedding, then gradual thickening over months. Pattern thinning is long term, so treatment is planned to be something you can keep up comfortably. Individual results vary.

What the research says
The evidence,
with sources
A Cochrane systematic review of 47 randomised controlled studies in women with female pattern hair loss found that the established topical prescription treatment was more likely than placebo to produce moderate to marked regrowth, rated by both participants and investigators, although many of the studies had an unclear risk of bias. A European evidence-based (S3) guideline covering women and men grades the available treatments by strength of evidence and is widely used to choose a starting plan.
Iron is more nuanced. A detailed review in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found the link between iron deficiency and hair loss is inconsistent, and that the decision to screen and treat should rest on clinical judgement — which is why female hair loss treatment Singapore patients receive at IN Eternity Clinic includes blood tests selected for each woman. A randomised, sham-controlled study also found that low-level laser increased terminal hair density in women as well as men.

Common questions
Your questions,
answered
Female hair loss treatment Singapore: which tests will I need?
It depends on your history, but most women have blood tests for iron stores and thyroid function, with hormones checked if there are irregular periods, acne or excess hair growth. Other tests, such as vitamin D or zinc, may be added. A magnified scalp examination looks at hair thickness and the scalp itself. Results guide the plan, and sometimes correcting a deficiency is the main treatment needed.
How much does female hair loss treatment cost?
Pricing is given at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic, because it depends on which tests you need and whether the plan uses medication alone or adds H2LT laser or Regenera Activa. Dr Sin Yong explains each part of the plan and its cost before you decide. There is no one-size price, because women's hair loss rarely has a one-size cause.
Is my hair loss after pregnancy normal?
Shedding two to four months after giving birth is common, as hairs that stayed in the growth phase during pregnancy all enter the resting phase together. It usually settles within months. If shedding continues past your baby's first birthday, the parting keeps widening, or you feel unusually tired, see a doctor, because low iron, thyroid changes and underlying pattern thinning can all show up at this time.
Can I have treatment while breastfeeding or trying for a baby?
Some options are suitable and some are not. Certain prescription medicines are avoided during pregnancy, breastfeeding or when planning a pregnancy, and Regenera Activa is not done during pregnancy. Correcting deficiencies, gentle scalp care and some in-clinic treatments may still be possible. Dr Sin Yong will tailor the plan to where you are, and update it as things change.
How long until I see results?
Hair grows slowly and follicles respond over several cycles, so change is judged over months. Many women notice less shedding first, then finer hairs gradually thickening. Reviews use the same photo angles and lighting so progress can be compared fairly. Shedding from a trigger often improves once the cause is fixed, while pattern thinning needs ongoing treatment. Individual results vary.
Will my hair grow back fully?
It depends on the cause and how long it has been going on. Shedding after a trigger often recovers well once the trigger and any deficiency are addressed. Pattern thinning can usually be slowed and partly improved, but areas that have been thin for many years may not return to their earlier density. Dr Sin Yong will give you a realistic view at consultation rather than a promise.
