Dark Eye Circles Treatment in Singapore

Brown, blue-purple and shadow-type circles have different causes. Matching the treatment to the type is what separates a sensible plan from wasted sessions.

Quick answer

Dark eye circles are the darker band under the lower lids that concealer never quite hides. In some people it is brown, in others blue or purple, and for many it is really a shadow that changes with the lighting. Before choosing a dark eye circles treatment in Singapore, it helps to know that there are three main types, pigment, blood vessels and hollowing, and most people have a mix. Each type responds to a different approach, which is why one treatment rarely clears everything.

Brown circles come from extra melanin in the skin. They are common in Asian skin, often run in families, and get darker with sun exposure, eye rubbing, eczema or allergies. Blue or purple circles appear when very thin under-eye skin lets the muscle and small veins beneath show through, and they often look worse when you are tired or unwell. Shadow-type circles come from the groove between the lower lid and cheek, called the tear trough, which deepens as cheek volume thins with age.

A quick check helps. Gently stretch the skin under your eye: if the colour stays the same, pigment is likely; if it lightens or the blue becomes clearer, vessels and thin skin play a part. If the darkness fades when you tilt your face towards a light, it is mostly shadow. SkinRev Lab provides non-invasive eye-area care. Lasers and fillers are performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic, and a doctor confirms the type before medical treatment.

“A shadow is not pigment, so a laser cannot lighten it, and filler cannot fade a brown stain; the type decides the tool.”

Types
Pigmented (brown), vascular (blue-purple), structural (shadow from tear trough), or mixed
Lower-lid skin thickness
Very thin, often well under 1 mm, so underlying muscle and vessels can show through
Common triggers
Genetics, sun exposure, eye rubbing, allergies and eczema, tiredness, ageing
Laser toning wavelength
1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG at low fluence
Picosecond pulse length
Trillionths of a second, breaking pigment with less heat in surrounding skin
Simple self-checks
Stretch test for pigment versus vessels; light test for shadow

What goes where

The honest ladder:
non-invasive first, medical when it is needed

At SkinRev Lab · non-invasive

HydraFacial Perk Eye — A roller-flex eye-area add-on with soothing antioxidant serum that hydrates and cools the lower lid. It can make tired, dull skin look fresher for a while; it does not lighten deep pigment or fill a hollow. Read more

Needleless SkinBooster — Needle-free transdermal delivery of hydrating and brightening boosters to the under-eye region. Better hydration can make thin skin look plumper and less translucent; results are subtle and suit mild cases. Read more

At IN Eternity Clinic · Dr Sin Yong

Tear Trough Filler — Soft hyaluronic acid filler placed deep along the tear trough to soften the shadow from a hollow. Performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic for shadow-type circles in people who are not prone to puffiness. How it works

Laser Toning — Low-fluence 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser passes gently over the area to break up excess melanin over a planned course. Suited to pigment-type circles, with eye protection and settings chosen for Asian skin. How it works

Pico Laser (T2 Frax Radiance) — Picosecond laser delivers very short pulses that fragment pigment with less heat. It may be considered for stubborn brown circles, and the doctor weighs it against the risk of rebound darkening in sensitive skin. How it works

Enquiries to SkinRev Lab about medical treatments are passed to IN Eternity Clinic, where Dr Sin Yong performs them.

Start with Perk Eye or the Needleless SkinBooster at SkinRev Lab if your circles are mild, look worse when you are tired, and your main wish is fresher, better-hydrated skin. See the doctor first if the darkness is deep brown, has spread onto the lids or cheeks, appeared suddenly, is on one side only, or if there is a clear hollow under the eye. People with eczema, allergies or itchy eyes should have those treated first, because rubbing keeps the colour coming back. Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic will confirm the type and match laser, filler or both to it.

What the research says

The evidence,
with sources

Reviews of periorbital darkening agree that it has several causes: melanin deposited in the skin, darkening after eczema or allergic contact dermatitis, swelling, visible blood vessels under thin skin, and shadowing from skin laxity and the tear trough. One review stresses that treatment should target the main cause and its contributing factors, rather than applying one method to every case.

A systematic review of light-based devices for pigmented dark circles found that intense pulsed light and ruby laser combined with depigmenting care gave the strongest reported results, while Nd:YAG, alexandrite and diode lasers performed less well for pigment, and called for better-designed studies. A 2026 multispecialty review concluded that fillers remain the foundation for volume-related hollowing, lasers address melanin, vessels and laxity, and that individual anatomy should guide the choice.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

Which dark eye circles treatment in Singapore suits my type?

Brown, pigment-type circles may respond to lasers such as low-fluence 1064 nm toning or picosecond laser over a course. Shadow-type circles from a hollow usually respond better to tear trough filler. Blue-purple circles from thin skin are the hardest to change, and hydration or skin-quality care helps a little. Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic confirms the type first.

How much does dark eye circles treatment in Singapore cost?

At SkinRev Lab, the Needleless SkinBooster is S$288 per region, and HydraFacial Perk Eye is priced at the counter as an add-on. Laser toning, pico laser and tear trough filler are medical treatments, so pricing is given at consultation with Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic, based on your type and the plan agreed.

Will sleeping more get rid of my dark circles?

Better sleep can reduce puffiness and the blue tint that worsens when you are tired, but it will not remove pigment or fill a hollow. If your circles are inherited or caused by a tear trough, they stay even after a good rest. Sun protection, not rubbing your eyes, and treating allergies or eczema help prevent pigment from deepening.

Is laser near the eyes safe?

Lasers around the eyes are done with protective eye shields and careful settings. The main risks in Asian skin are temporary redness and, occasionally, darkening or lightening of the treated skin. Evidence on which laser suits dark circles is mixed, which is why the doctor chooses conservatively and reviews your response before continuing.

Can filler fix dark circles?

Only the shadow type. When the darkness comes from a hollow groove, filler can reduce the shadow by smoothing the surface. It does not lighten brown pigment and may show a bluish tint if placed too shallow. People prone to puffiness may swell more after filler. Dr Sin Yong will tell you plainly whether filler is likely to help.

How long before I see a change?

Hydrating treatments at SkinRev Lab usually make the skin look fresher within a day, though the effect is temporary. Laser for pigment works gradually, and change is judged over several weeks to months. Filler alters a shadow once swelling settles, usually after one to two weeks. Results vary, and mixed-type circles often need more than one approach.
