A nose thread lift is a non-surgical way to refine the shape of the nose using absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) threads. If you are researching a nose thread lift in Singapore, you are most likely looking for a slightly higher, straighter bridge, or a tip that looks a little more lifted and defined. At IN Eternity Clinic, the procedure is performed by Dr Sin Yong, who assesses the nose in person first, including whether threads are appropriate at all.
Many Asian noses have a low, flat bridge, a soft or broad tip and a short columella — the strip of tissue between the nostrils. Threads can add a linear, defined lift along the bridge and support under the tip. They are sometimes combined with hyaluronic acid filler, which adds volume while threads add structure. The change is modest and gradual in part. Threads cannot shave a bony hump, narrow the nasal bones or change breathing, and they are not a substitute for surgical rhinoplasty.

How it works
The mechanism,
in plain English
PDO is a surgical suture material that the body breaks down slowly by hydrolysis. Nose threads are usually barbed or cogged, so they grip surrounding tissue. Using a fine cannula through a small entry point, usually at the tip, the doctor places several threads lengthwise along the nasal dorsum in a deep plane just above the bone and cartilage covering. Laid side by side, they create a narrow, slightly raised line that defines the bridge.
For the tip, threads can be placed upwards through the columella to act as a temporary strut, supporting the tip and adjusting the angle between the nose and upper lip. The threads themselves provide immediate structure. As they are gradually absorbed, a thin layer of collagen-rich tissue forms along each thread track, which contributes some support after the material has gone.
Correct depth matters more in the nose than almost anywhere else. Threads placed too superficially can be seen or felt and may work their way out, especially at the tip, where the skin is thin and under tension.
“Threads can define a low bridge and support a soft tip; they cannot make a nose smaller, remove a hump or replace surgery.”

Is it right for you
Who it suits,
and who it does not
A nose thread lift usually suits adults with a low or flat nasal bridge, a soft tip that would benefit from a little lift, or a slight droop of the tip, who want a defined but natural-looking change without surgery. It tends to work better when the nasal skin is of average thickness, the nose has not had previous surgery with implants, and expectations are for refinement rather than transformation. Some people choose threads because they prefer a linear, sharper bridge than filler alone gives, or because they want to reduce the amount of filler placed in the nose.
Nose thread lifting is not suitable during pregnancy, with active acne, infection or inflammation on the nose, with uncontrolled diabetes or a bleeding disorder, or for people who cannot pause blood thinners safely under medical advice. Previous nose surgery, especially with silicone implants, or earlier threads and fillers, needs careful assessment and may rule it out. Very thin skin over the tip raises the risk of visible or extruding threads. People hoping to narrow the bones, remove a hump, change the nostrils substantially or improve breathing need a surgical opinion, not threads.
What to expect
Consultation, session
and aftercare
Your first visit at IN Eternity Clinic is a consultation with Dr Sin Yong. He examines the bridge, tip, skin thickness and any previous procedures, and discusses what threads can and cannot do for your nose. If filler is also suggested, he explains why, along with the specific risks of injecting the nose. Photographs are taken for planning and comparison, and a course is usually planned at consultation, which may be a single session or a staged approach.
On the day, numbing cream and local anaesthetic are used, and the threads are placed through one or two tiny entry points. Most people feel pressure rather than sharp pain. Afterwards, expect mild swelling, tenderness and sometimes bruising for several days. Avoid pressing, massaging or knocking the nose, resting heavy glasses on the bridge, saunas and strenuous exercise for the period advised. Contact the clinic promptly if you notice increasing redness, pain, a visible thread end or discharge at the entry point.

What the research says
The evidence,
with sources
Published data on nose threads are encouraging but limited to small studies. In a retrospective study of 31 Korean patients treated once with PDO threads and fillers, independent dermatologists rated most noses improved at six months, the nasolabial angle increased measurably, and complications were few and minor; the authors noted that threads were especially useful for lifting the tip. A small prospective study of 10 patients treated with PDO threads alone found improvements in quality-of-life scores and blinded first-impression ratings two weeks after treatment, with no major complications, and concluded that threads suit minor changes, mainly in tip rotation.
Complications, while uncommon, can be significant. A surgical series of seven patients needing revision after thread rhinoplasty found that visible or extruded threads at the tip were the most common problem, followed by irregularity of the bridge. In these cases, threads were still intact years after insertion, and removing them weakened tip support so that grafting was needed. This is why depth, thread choice and patient selection are taken seriously, and why a cautious plan is preferred.

Common questions
Your questions,
answered
How much does a nose thread lift in Singapore cost?
Pricing for a nose thread lift is given at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic. It depends on how many threads are needed, whether the tip as well as the bridge is treated, and whether filler is part of the plan. Dr Sin Yong explains the plan and the fees before anything is booked, and will tell you honestly if threads are unlikely to give the change you want.
Nose threads or nose filler — which is better for me?
They do different things. Filler adds volume and can smooth and raise a low bridge; threads add linear definition and can support a soft tip. Some noses suit one, some the other, and some a combination using less filler. Filler in the nose carries a rare but serious risk of blocking a blood vessel, while threads carry risks of visibility or extrusion. The choice is made at consultation.
Is a nose thread lift painful?
Numbing cream and local anaesthetic are used, so most people feel pressure and a pushing sensation rather than sharp pain while the threads are placed. The local anaesthetic injection itself stings briefly. Afterwards, the nose may feel tender, tight or slightly sore for a few days, especially at the tip. Simple pain relief advised by the doctor usually helps, and discomfort settles as swelling goes down.
What is the downtime after a nose thread lift?
Most people have mild swelling and tenderness for several days, and some have bruising around the bridge or between the eyes. Many return to work within a day or two, using make-up once the entry point has closed. Avoid pressing or massaging the nose, resting heavy glasses on the bridge, contact sports, saunas and strenuous exercise for the period you are advised.
What are the risks?
Common effects are swelling, bruising and tenderness. Less common but important are a thread that becomes visible or works its way out, usually at the tip, irregularity along the bridge, infection, and asymmetry. Rarely, complications need surgical correction. Careful placement at the right depth and choosing suitable candidates reduce risk. Report increasing pain, redness, discharge or a visible thread end to the clinic promptly.
How long does a nose thread lift last?
It varies. PDO is absorbed gradually, and the collagen formed along the thread tracks provides some support after that, but the effect softens over time. Skin thickness, tip strength, how many threads were used and whether filler was added all matter. Rather than promising a duration, Dr Sin Yong reviews the result and discusses maintenance when the nose starts to lose definition.
