What a first-visit rate is, and what it is not

People searching for a facial trial in Singapore usually want one thing: a lower price to try a facial before deciding whether to come back. At SkinRev Lab, a non-invasive aesthetic centre at CityLink Mall, we call this a first-visit rate, and it is printed on our price list next to the standard price.

The terms are short. A first-visit rate applies once per new client, on the first session. It is the price of that one session. Later sessions are at the standard rate, and facial and body prices are shown before GST.

The first-visit rate sits on the same line of the price list as the standard session, so you can see exactly what it is a reduction on. Your first session starts with a short assessment by an Aesthetic Specialist.

Prices are in Singapore dollars. Every first-visit rate applies once per new client, on the first session. The waxing first-visit rate applies to one area. Body treatments are priced per region or per zone, and larger areas may need more than one zone; your Aesthetic Specialist sets out the total before anything is booked.

• SKINLDM, S$68 first visit: LDM ultrasound with a basic facial, about 30 minutes. A gentle place to start if your skin is sensitive, redness-prone or reactive. It calms rather than corrects; it does not break down pigment or resurface scars.
• Needleless SkinBooster, first region from S$98: a needle-free booster delivered into one region, face or neck, chosen at consultation for hydration, tone or overall skin quality. It is a targeted delivery treatment rather than a full facial.

Judging offers

How to judge a cheap facial trial in Singapore

A low introductory price is a normal way for a business to let you try it. The number on the advert is only part of the picture, though. These questions are fair to ask any provider, including us.

• What exactly is included? Ask which steps, which device and which products are in the price, and which are add-ons charged on the day, such as extraction, masks, boosters or LED.
• How long is the treatment itself? A long appointment can include a lengthy consultation and a sales conversation. Ask how many minutes are spent actually treating your skin.
• Is the price for one session on its own? Check that the advertised figure is not a per-session price that only applies if you buy a course.
• Is GST included? Many prices in Singapore are quoted before GST, which is 9%. A S$68 facial before GST is S$74.12 at the counter.
• Is it once only? Introductory rates usually apply to a new client's first session. Know the standard price you will pay from the second visit.
• Who performs it, and is your skin assessed first? A first visit is a fair way to see whether a place will tell you when something is not right for you.
• Are the terms in writing? Before paying for anything beyond the session, ask for the package terms, validity period and refund policy in writing.

Hard selling

If the trial turns into a sales pitch

For many people, the worry behind a facial trial is not the facial. It is being pressed to buy a large package while still on the bed. The concern has a basis: the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) received 558 complaints about the beauty industry in the first half of 2025, and said aggressive or misleading sales tactics made up about 28 per cent of them.

Singapore's Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act prohibits unfair practices, including a supplier exerting undue pressure or influence on a consumer to enter into a transaction. If you feel that has happened to you, CASE can advise on your options, including a claim at the Small Claims Tribunals.

• You can say no, or not today. A first visit is for trying a treatment, not for deciding a year of spending.
• Pay for the session you came for. If a package is offered, take the written terms home and compare them calmly.
• Ask whether a package price will still be available if you decide next week. A discount that exists only if you sign today is a reason to pause.
• Ask what happens to unused sessions if you stop.

How a first visit works here

Your first visit starts with a short assessment by an Aesthetic Specialist. The price is set out before anything is booked, and the first-visit rate is the price of that single session. Our price list attaches no package to it.

Where a treatment works over a course, such as Needleless SkinBooster, our treatment pages say we give a realistic number of sessions at consultation rather than selling a fixed package upfront. For the SKIN Eternity Pod, there is no package to buy up front.

We do offer treatment packages, but if you are undecided, we would rather you book a single session first than commit to a package you are unsure about.

If our Aesthetic Specialist sees a concern that belongs with a doctor, such as melasma or deep acne scarring, you are told at the first visit and given the contact for IN Eternity Clinic, our affiliated clinic, where Dr Sin Yong assesses medical concerns. There is no fee and no obligation for that referral.

What you pay from the second session

A first-visit rate is a fair way to try a treatment, but budget for the standard price if you plan to continue. These are the figures from our price list, with 9% GST worked out for convenience; your receipt is the final word.

• HydraFacial Syndeo is commonly repeated every four to six weeks; SKINLDM and Needleless SkinBooster are planned as a course at your assessment.
• Results vary from person to person.

Body and waxing

First-visit rates beyond facials

The same terms apply to body treatments: once per new client, on the first session, before GST, with the standard rate at S$288 per region, zone or session. One first-visit zone is a fair way to try a treatment, but a full abdomen is usually treated as two zones, so ask for the total for your area before you book.

Waxing first-visit rates include GST and apply to one area, once: S$12 for a Small area such as the upper lip, S$28 for Medium such as underarms, S$38 for Large such as half legs, and S$68 for Extra Large, such as full legs or a Brazilian.
