Many people come to weight management in Singapore after years of trying on their own: diets that work for a few months, weight that creeps back, a waistline that keeps growing despite busy, active days. Others are prompted by a health screening that flags blood pressure, blood sugar or cholesterol, or simply by clothes that no longer fit. These are common experiences, and they are not a sign of weak willpower.
Body weight is regulated by a mix of genetics, hormones, sleep, stress, medicines, appetite signalling and the environment you live and work in. After weight loss, the body tends to increase hunger and reduce energy use, which is one reason regain is so common. Where fat is stored also matters. Fat around the waist and organs, called visceral fat, is more closely linked to diabetes and heart disease than fat on the hips or thighs, and Asians tend to carry more of it at a lower body mass index.
This is different from body contouring. Contouring devices reshape a small, defined area of pinchable fat and do not change overall weight or health markers. A weight-management plan aims at the whole body and long-term health, and contouring, if wanted, comes later for any areas that remain once weight has been stable for some time. Keeping the two separate protects you from spending on treatments that cannot deliver what you actually need, and keeps the focus on health first.

“We will not sell you a quick fix for weight; a doctor assesses you first, and medication is considered only where it is medically appropriate.”

What goes where

At IN Eternity Clinic · Dr Sin Yong
Medical Weight Management — A doctor-supervised programme performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic. It starts with a full assessment of history, measurements and relevant blood tests, followed by a practical nutrition and activity plan, regular reviews and, where medically appropriate, a doctor-prescribed weight-management medicine with monitoring. How it works
Enquiries to SkinRev Lab about medical treatments are passed to IN Eternity Clinic, where Dr Sin Yong performs them.
Doctor-supervised weight management suits adults whose weight or waistline is affecting their health, energy or confidence, including those with raised blood pressure, blood sugar or cholesterol, sleep apnoea or joint pain, and those who have tried structured lifestyle change without lasting success. Because SkinRev is a non-invasive aesthetic centre, it does not provide weight management itself; enquiries are routed to IN Eternity Clinic. Please tell the doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding, have a history of an eating disorder, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease or thyroid problems, or take regular medicines, as these change what is safe and appropriate. People with very high BMI or complex medical conditions may be referred on for specialist or surgical care. If you are unsure whether this is for you, a single consultation can clarify your risks and options without any obligation to start.

What the research says
The evidence,
with sources
A World Health Organization expert consultation reviewed evidence that Asian populations have a higher proportion of body fat and higher risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease at a lower body mass index than European populations. It kept the international cut-offs but identified additional public health action points at 23.0 and 27.5 kg/m², which many Asian health systems, including Singapore's, use to flag raised risk. A Canadian clinical practice guideline describes obesity as a chronic disease defined by excess body fat that impairs health, and recommends a fuller assessment than BMI alone, including waist circumference and blood tests.
The same guideline places nutrition, physical activity and psychological support at the foundation of care, with medicines and surgery added for suitable people. It notes that behavioural change commonly produces weight loss of around 3 to 5 percent of body weight, which can meaningfully improve weight-related conditions. In a large study of adults with type 2 diabetes, modest weight loss of 5 to under 10 percent over a year was linked to significant improvements in cardiovascular risk factors, with greater benefits at larger losses. Individual responses vary, and ongoing follow-up matters, since weight regain is common once support stops and maintenance is part of the plan rather than an afterthought.

Common questions
Your questions,
answered
How does doctor-supervised weight management in Singapore work at IN Eternity Clinic?
It begins with a consultation with Dr Sin Yong covering your weight history, eating patterns, sleep, stress, medicines and medical conditions, plus measurements and blood tests where needed. Together you agree realistic goals and a plan for food, movement and habits. Reviews are scheduled to track progress and side effects, and a doctor-prescribed medicine is discussed only if it is medically appropriate for you.
Will I be given medication for weight management in Singapore?
Not automatically. Medication is one tool among several and is considered only after an assessment shows it is suitable, based on factors such as your BMI, waist measurement, weight-related conditions and medical history. If it is appropriate, the doctor explains the expected benefits, common side effects, how it is monitored and what tends to happen if it is stopped, so you can decide together.
Can body contouring help me lose weight?
No. Contouring treatments reduce fat in a small, defined area and change shape, not overall body weight or health markers such as blood sugar. They are better kept for stubborn pockets that remain after your weight has been stable for a while. If your main goal is to bring down your weight or improve your health, a medical weight-management plan is the right starting point.
How fast should I expect to lose weight?
Gradual, steady change is generally safer and easier to maintain than rapid loss. The pace differs from person to person and depends on your starting point, health, activity and the plan you choose. Early weeks sometimes show faster change from fluid shifts, followed by a slower phase. The doctor will set expectations at your reviews rather than promise a fixed number.
How much does it cost?
Medical weight management at IN Eternity Clinic is priced at consultation, because the plan depends on your assessment, how often you need reviews and whether any medication is appropriate. You can start your enquiry through SkinRev at CityLink Mall or contact IN Eternity Clinic directly, and the clinic will explain the costs before anything begins.
Will I have loose skin after losing weight?
Some people do, particularly after larger losses, in later life or after pregnancy, because stretched skin may not fully recoil. Losing weight gradually, staying active and protecting skin from sun can help. Once weight is stable, loose skin on the tummy, arms or thighs can be assessed separately, with energy-based tightening for mild laxity and a surgical opinion for significant excess.
