Lip embroidery removal in Singapore: when lip blush goes wrong, and what T2 laser can do

Lip blush that healed patchy, too bright, blue-grey or outside your natural lip line can usually be lightened. Lips are also where cosmetic pigment is most likely to darken under laser, so how it is done matters.

Quick answer

  • Lip embroidery removal in Singapore is done with laser by a doctor. Lip blush pigments are mostly pink, red, coral and nude shades built on iron oxide and titanium white, and these can turn darker when lasered, so a small test area is treated and reviewed first.
  • With T2 Targeted Tattoo on the DEKA TORO, red and pink tones are treated at 532 nm and dark or blue-grey liner at 1064 nm, and any colour that appears along the way is re-assessed before the next session.
  • Expect swelling for a few days and crusting along the treated area; lips heal quickly but must not be picked. If you get cold sores, Dr Sin Yong may prescribe antiviral tablets before treatment.
  • At SkinRev Lab, CityLink Mall (City Hall MRT), Dr Sin Yong assesses lip pigment and performs T2 himself, priced at consultation. WhatsApp a clear daylight photo to 8266 9585.

This guide is written for SkinRev Lab and reviewed by Dr Sin Yong, who assesses lip blush that has gone wrong and performs T2 Targeted Tattoo laser himself at SkinRev Lab, CityLink Mall. DEKA (Italy), the maker of the TORO laser used for T2, has appointed him a Global Key Opinion Leader, as have CLASSYS and HIRONIC (Korea); he speaks and trains doctors at their academies in Europe, Asia and South America.

The problems

Lip blush gone wrong: what people notice

  • Patchy or blotchy colour: some areas held pigment and others did not, often where the lips were dry, cracked or picked while healing.
  • Too bright or unnatural: a shade that healed stronger than expected, or a coral that reads orange on your skin.
  • Blue, grey or purple tint: cool pigment in naturally darker lips, or dark-lip neutralising that healed unevenly.
  • A hard line outside the lip: an overlined border that shows as a ring when the colour inside fades.
  • Darker than before: pigment that has changed with time, or an earlier laser session that darkened a nude shade.
  • Lumps, swelling that keeps returning, or itch: not a colour problem; these need a doctor's diagnosis first.

Give new lip blush its full healing time before judging it: colour often looks strong for the first week, then fades and evens out over about four to six weeks. What is still wrong after that is unlikely to settle on its own.

The chemistry

Why lip pigment is the hardest to laser

Most lip blush shades are blends of red and yellow iron oxides, with titanium dioxide added to soften or "nude" the colour. Laser energy can chemically reduce red ferric oxide to black ferrous oxide, and titanium white can also turn grey or dark. The change is immediate but hidden at first by the white frosting that follows any laser pulse, so it may only be noticed as the area settles.

This was documented in 1993 in five patients whose white, flesh-coloured and pink-red cosmetic tattoos darkened after Q-switched and pulsed lasers. Darkened pigment can often be cleared with further sessions at another wavelength, but not always. That is why lip removal starts with a small test area and a review weeks later, rather than treating both lips on the first visit.

The T2 plan

How T2 Targeted Tattoo is used on lips

T2 (Targeted Tattoo) is Dr Sin Yong's staged protocol on the DEKA TORO laser, which offers 532 nm and 1064 nm nanosecond and 785 nm picosecond wavelengths. For lips, the plan usually runs like this:

  • Assessment in daylight, with photos and your lip blush history: how many sessions, which shades, and any neutralising done for dark lips.
  • A test spot on a small, inconspicuous part of the lip, reviewed after several weeks.
  • Staged sessions on the areas that need it, if the test lightens without darkening; often the border first if it was overlined.
  • Re-assessment before each session, as removing one shade can reveal another underneath.
  • Cold sore cover where needed: with a history of cold sores, antiviral tablets are often started before treatment.

Sometimes the honest answer is that laser is not the right first step, for example if the test spot darkens and does not clear. Dr Sin Yong will tell you what is realistic before anything more is treated.

Aftercare

Healing after lip embroidery removal

Lips swell more than brows after laser, typically for two to three days. Small crusts or blisters can form along the treated area; keep them moist with the ointment you are given and let them come off on their own. Avoid very hot, spicy or salty food for the first day or two, and protect the lips from the sun with an SPF lip balm once healed. Sessions are spaced several weeks apart so the lips can heal and clear pigment between visits.

Contact the clinic if swelling is getting worse after the third day, if there is pus, fever or spreading redness, or if you notice cold sore blisters.

Where to go

Lip embroidery removal in Singapore: where to go

Laser removal of lip pigment is a medical treatment. At SkinRev Lab, #B1-28 CityLink Mall (between City Hall and Esplanade MRT), Dr Sin Yong examines your lips and skin, explains what is realistic, performs the test spot and every T2 session himself, and prices the plan at consultation. SkinRev Lab is open daily from 11am to 8pm; WhatsApp a clear daylight photo, without lip makeup, to +65 8266 9585 to start.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

Can lip blush be removed completely?

Often it can be lightened until it is hard to see, but complete clearance cannot be promised. Lip pigments are among the most likely to change colour under laser, so progress is checked after a test spot and at every session.

Why did my lip blush turn blue or grey?

Usually because a cool or dark pigment shows through naturally pigmented lips, or because a neutralising shade used for dark lips healed unevenly. These tones often respond to 1064 nm, but an assessment comes first.

Can laser make lip blush darker?

Yes. Pink, red, nude and white-containing shades can darken immediately when lasered, because iron oxide and titanium dioxide change chemically. A test area reviewed weeks later is the usual safeguard.

How many sessions does lip embroidery removal take?

It varies with the shades and how much pigment was placed. In a review of 33 people treated for facial cosmetic tattoos, about three picosecond sessions gave a satisfactory result on average, and some needed a second wavelength for colours revealed along the way.

Will I get cold sores after lip laser?

Laser can trigger cold sores in people who carry the virus. If you have had them before, tell the doctor; antiviral tablets are often prescribed before treatment.

How much does lip embroidery removal cost in Singapore?

At SkinRev Lab it is priced at consultation, after Dr Sin Yong has examined the pigment, done a test spot where needed and estimated the course.

Can I redo my lip blush after removal?

Usually, once the lips have fully healed and the old pigment is light enough. Ask the doctor to confirm the lips are ready before booking new work anywhere.
