Syringomas are benign growths of the sweat ducts. They appear as small, firm, skin-coloured to yellowish bumps of around 1–3 mm, usually in symmetrical clusters on the lower eyelids and upper cheeks, though they can also occur on the neck, chest, armpits or genital skin. They are more common in women, often appear from the teenage years onwards, and tend to run in families. Syringomas are harmless, but because they sit on the face, many people look for syringoma removal in Singapore for cosmetic reasons.
The difficulty is depth. The duct structures that make up a syringoma extend into the dermis, beneath the surface skin. Treatments that only skim the surface may flatten them for a while, but syringomas can return because the deeper part remains. Treating more deeply raises the risk of scarring and pigment change, and Asian skin is more prone to darkening after inflammation. Good treatment balances these risks, usually through a staged plan. Syringomas also resemble milia, flat warts and some other sweat-gland growths, so a doctor should confirm the diagnosis.
SkinRev Lab does not treat syringomas, and no facial, skin booster or eye treatment will remove them. If you contact SkinRev, we route you to IN Eternity Clinic, where Dr Sin Yong examines the bumps, explains honestly what removal can and cannot achieve, and plans treatment around your skin type. Many people find that a careful, gradual approach gives a smoother result than trying to clear every bump at once. Please avoid home 'mole pens' or acids on the eyelids, which can burn this thin skin and leave marks.

“Syringomas can be reduced, but they are rarely erased in one go: careful treatment trades a little patience for less risk of scarring.”

Laser removal — Ablative lasers such as CO₂ (10,600 nm) or erbium vaporise syringoma tissue; pinpoint 'drilling' techniques and fractional settings aim to reach the deeper part while sparing surrounding skin. This is the most widely reported approach, and it is planned cautiously on Asian skin to limit darkening and scarring.
Radiofrequency/electrosurgical removal — A very fine electrosurgical or radiofrequency needle is placed into each bump to destroy it from within. It suits smaller numbers of lesions and gives precise control around the eyelids.
Shave or excision removal by Dr Sin Yong — A single or a few larger syringomas can be shaved or excised, which also provides tissue for histology if the diagnosis is uncertain. Excision leaves a fine line, so it is not used for large clusters.
Assessment and staged planning by Dr Sin Yong — Because syringomas often need more than one treatment and can recur, Dr Sin Yong plans conservative, spaced treatments and reviews healing and pigment between them.
Enquiries to SkinRev Lab about medical treatments are passed to IN Eternity Clinic, where Dr Sin Yong performs them.
There is no non-invasive treatment for syringomas at SkinRev. Syringomas do not need removal for health reasons, so treatment is a personal choice. See a doctor if you want them treated, if the bumps are spreading or itchy, if they appeared suddenly in crops on the chest or neck, or if you are not sure they are syringomas. If you tend to develop dark marks after acne or injury, tell the doctor, as it changes how aggressively the area can be treated. Dr Sin Yong assesses and treats syringomas at IN Eternity Clinic, and SkinRev can route your enquiry there.

What the research says
The evidence,
with sources
A systematic review of more than 800 reported cases in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology describes syringomas as benign sweat-duct tumours, most often around the eyes in adolescent and adult women, and notes that while they are linked most often with Down syndrome, links with inherited tumour syndromes are rarely reported. The authors conclude that treatment continues to be a real challenge, with both traditional and newer approaches carrying limits.
A 2022 review of 27 laser studies found the CO₂ laser to be the most widely used option, with pinhole and multiple-drilling techniques giving good cosmetic results with fewer side effects, and fractional lasers reducing downtime and complications compared with fully ablative treatment; the author notes there is no consensus on settings and larger studies are needed. DermNet adds that syringomas can recur after superficial treatment because they reach the deep dermis, and that scarring and pigment change, though uncommon, are more likely in darker skin.

Common questions
Your questions,
answered
What does syringoma removal in Singapore involve?
It begins with a doctor confirming that the bumps are syringomas. Treatment is usually with an ablative laser using pinpoint or fractional settings, or a fine electrosurgical needle placed into each bump, under numbing cream or local anaesthetic. At IN Eternity Clinic, Dr Sin Yong plans conservative sessions spaced apart, so the skin can heal and any pigment change can be watched.
What is the cost of syringoma removal in Singapore?
Pricing is given at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic, after Dr Sin Yong has seen how many syringomas there are, how deep they look and what your skin type allows. Because a staged plan is common, he will explain the likely approach before you decide. SkinRev does not treat syringomas, so there is no SkinRev price for this.
Can syringomas be removed completely?
Many people see a clear reduction, but complete removal in one sitting is uncommon. Syringomas extend into the deeper skin, and treating to their full depth at once raises the risk of scarring. Some lesions return over time. Most people do well with a gradual plan and realistic expectations, and individual results vary.
How many sessions do syringomas usually need?
It varies with the number, size and depth of the bumps and with how your skin heals. Many people need more than one session, spaced several weeks apart so that redness and any darkening can settle before the next step. A course is usually planned at consultation, and Dr Sin Yong reviews progress between sessions rather than committing to a fixed number.
What is the downtime after syringoma treatment?
Expect small scabs or pinpoint crusts on treated spots for about a week, with pinkness that may last a few weeks. Swelling around the eyes is common for a day or two. Careful sun protection matters afterwards, because treated skin can darken. Many people time treatment so the first week falls over a weekend or a quieter period.
Are syringomas a sign of another health problem?
Usually not. Most syringomas are simply a skin trait, often running in families. They are more common in people with Down syndrome, and a rare clear-cell type has been linked with diabetes. Sudden crops of syringomas on the chest or neck are worth showing to a doctor, and a small biopsy is occasionally done if the diagnosis is unclear.
