G Lift is a fractional laser treatment for the vaginal and vulval tissues. Women looking into vaginal laser Singapore options usually have one or more of these: dryness, burning or itching, discomfort during sex, a feeling of looseness after childbirth, or mild leaking when they cough or laugh. At IN Eternity Clinic, G Lift is performed by Dr Sin Yong as an outpatient procedure with no anaesthetic and no cutting.

Many of these symptoms come from falling oestrogen levels around and after menopause, a pattern doctors call genitourinary syndrome of menopause. The vaginal lining becomes thinner, drier and less elastic, with less blood flow. Similar changes can follow childbirth, breastfeeding, some cancer treatments and certain medicines. G Lift aims to improve the quality of that lining. It is one option among several, and it sits alongside, not in place of, a proper gynaecological assessment.

How it works

The mechanism,
in plain English

A fractional laser splits its beam into many tiny spots, creating microscopic columns of controlled injury in the vaginal lining with untouched tissue in between, so healing starts from the healthy skin around each spot. A slim probe is inserted and rotated so the energy is spread evenly along the vaginal wall, and a separate handpiece can treat the vulval skin at the entrance. Most of the published research on intimate lasers used fractional CO₂ devices; Dr Sin Yong will explain the exact device and settings used for your plan at consultation.

The healing response is the point of the treatment. As the tiny injuries repair, the tissue is prompted to form new collagen and elastin in the layer beneath the lining (the lamina propria), new small blood vessels develop, and the surface lining can become thicker with more moisture. That is the basis for improvement in dryness, comfort and a feeling of firmness. Laser does not treat prolapse, where pelvic organs have dropped, and it does not replace pelvic floor muscle strength.

“Some women feel real relief after vaginal laser, but the strongest controlled studies are mixed — so G Lift is a considered option to discuss, not a certain fix.”

Is it right for you

Who it suits,
and who it does not

G Lift may suit women with vaginal dryness, burning, itching or discomfort during sex linked to menopause, breastfeeding or other causes of low oestrogen, and women who notice a feeling of looseness after childbirth. It can also be considered by women who cannot use, or prefer not to use, vaginal hormone treatment — for example after breast cancer, in discussion with their oncology team. Some women with mild stress leakage ask about it, though evidence for that use is limited.

Treatment is not done during pregnancy, with an active vaginal or urinary infection, during a herpes outbreak, or with unexplained bleeding, which must be investigated first. Cervical screening should be up to date; if it is overdue, it is arranged beforehand. Pelvic organ prolapse and significant leaking need assessment, as laser is not a prolapse treatment. Women with serious local or systemic illness need individual advice. Vaginal hormone treatment remains the established medical option for menopausal symptoms, and that is discussed honestly as well.

Non-invasive alternative at SkinRev Lab

SKINGLIFT® — SKINGLIFT at SkinRev is an external radiofrequency and muscle-stimulation protocol for intimate tone and the pelvic floor, with no internal probe and no laser. It focuses on surface tissue and muscle rather than the vaginal lining, so it does not address dryness in the same way. Women with symptoms such as pain, bleeding or recurrent infection should see a doctor first. Read more

What to expect

Consultation, session
and aftercare

At consultation, Dr Sin Yong asks about your symptoms, periods or menopause status, pregnancies and births, bladder symptoms, sexual comfort, medical history and any cancer treatment. An examination checks the vaginal tissues and looks for prolapse or infection, and cervical screening status is confirmed. You discuss G Lift alongside other options. If it fits, a course is usually planned at consultation, timed outside your period, with maintenance considered later.

During the session you lie as you would for a smear test. The probe is inserted and the laser applied, which most women feel as mild warmth or vibration; the vulval area, if treated, may sting a little. It takes about 15–20 minutes. Afterwards, mild warmth, redness, slight swelling, watery discharge or spotting can occur for a few days. Hot baths, swimming and strenuous exercise are avoided for a few days, and sex is usually paused for three to four days. Individual results vary.

What the research says

The evidence,
with sources

The first studies were encouraging. In a 2014 pilot study, 50 postmenopausal women who were unhappy with local hormone treatment had three fractional CO₂ laser sessions over 12 weeks and reported significant improvement in dryness, burning, itching and pain during sex, with better vaginal health scores and no adverse events. That study had no control group, however. A later double-blind study in Sydney randomised 85 women to laser or a sham procedure and found no significant difference in symptom severity at 12 months.

A 2025 meta-analysis of 11 randomised studies found that fractional CO₂ laser was associated with statistically significant short-term improvement in sexual and urinary symptoms, but not in vaginal lining quality, and the authors stated that the clinical significance is unclear. For vaginal laser Singapore patients, this means G Lift may help some women, particularly in the short term, but it is an option to weigh carefully with a doctor rather than a certainty.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

Vaginal laser Singapore: what technology does G Lift use?

G Lift is IN Eternity Clinic's fractional intimate laser treatment, planned and delivered by Dr Sin Yong with an assessment beforehand and aftercare afterwards. Most published studies of intimate laser treatment used fractional CO₂ lasers, and that is the research summarised on this page. Dr Sin Yong will explain the exact device, settings and number of visits that suit your situation at consultation.

How much does G Lift cost?

Pricing is given at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic, after Dr Sin Yong has assessed your symptoms and confirmed that laser is suitable. The cost depends on whether the vulval area is treated as well and how the course is planned. You see the full plan and cost before deciding, and alternatives are discussed openly.

Does vaginal laser hurt?

Most women feel mild warmth or a vibrating sensation during the internal part of the treatment, and no anaesthetic is usually needed. The entrance and vulval skin are more sensitive, so treatment there may sting briefly, and a numbing cream can be used if needed. Afterwards, some warmth, mild swelling or discharge for a few days is common.

Does it work for everyone?

No. Early studies reported high satisfaction, but a well-designed sham-controlled study found no significant difference from a sham procedure at 12 months, and a later meta-analysis found short-term improvements whose clinical importance is unclear. Some women do feel a worthwhile change, others do not. Dr Sin Yong will talk you through this honestly, along with other treatments.

Can I have G Lift after breast cancer?

Possibly. Some women who cannot use hormone-based treatment consider laser for dryness and discomfort. Because your situation is more complex, this should be discussed with your oncology team as well as at consultation, and the evidence in breast cancer survivors is still developing. Any new bleeding or symptoms are investigated before treatment.

When can I have sex after treatment?

Most women are advised to wait about three to four days, depending on how the tissues feel and the aftercare advice given on the day. During that time it is also sensible to avoid hot baths, swimming and strenuous exercise, and to wear cotton underwear. If you notice heavy bleeding, fever or worsening pain, contact the clinic promptly.
