Onda Pro is a non-invasive body contouring device from DEKA, the Italian medical laser maker. People comparing Onda Pro Singapore options often assume it is a laser or radiofrequency machine, but it is neither: it uses microwave energy, delivered through DEKA's Coolwaves system at 2.45 GHz. At IN Eternity Clinic it is performed by Dr Sin Yong to treat stubborn pockets of fat, the dimpled look of cellulite and mild loosening of the skin.
Body areas include the tummy, flanks, thighs, buttocks and arms. Onda Pro adds a smaller, slimmer handpiece, so tighter areas such as under the chin and along the jawline can also be treated, with energy delivered more shallowly to work on skin collagen. There are no needles or incisions and no anaesthetic. It is a contouring treatment for people near a stable weight, not a way to lose weight.

How it works
The mechanism,
in plain English
Microwaves at 2.45 GHz are a form of electromagnetic energy that makes water and other molecules in tissue oscillate and generate heat. The Coolwaves handpiece is designed to concentrate that heating in the subcutaneous fat layer, while a contact cooling system keeps the skin surface at a safe temperature. Fat cells exposed to enough heat are damaged and then cleared gradually by the body over the following weeks, which reduces the thickness of the treated layer.
Heat also acts on the fibrous septa, the collagen bands that run through the fat and tether the skin. In cellulite, these bands pull down on the skin while fat pushes up between them, creating dimples. Remodelling the septa and the collagen in the dermis can soften that pattern and firm the skin. Changes are gradual and develop over two to four weeks after each session, with further remodelling continuing for some time after.
“Onda Pro can thin a stubborn layer of fat and soften cellulite, but it works on contour at a stable weight — it cannot do the job of diet, exercise or medical weight management.”

Is it right for you
Who it suits,
and who it does not
Onda Pro suits adults close to their goal weight who have a pinchable pocket of fat on the tummy, flanks, thighs or arms that has not responded to diet and exercise. It also suits people with mild to moderate cellulite on the buttocks and thighs, and those who want some skin firming in the same area. With the smaller handpiece, it can suit people with a soft under-chin area or early loosening along the jawline who prefer to avoid needles.
Onda Pro is not suitable during pregnancy, where there are metal implants in the treatment area, or for people with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device. Some medical conditions, active skin infection, and areas with reduced sensation need assessing first. A very thin fat layer leaves little to treat, and large amounts of fat are better addressed with medical weight management. Heavy, overhanging skin needs a surgical opinion, as microwave energy cannot remove excess skin.
Non-invasive alternative at SkinRev Lab
SKINSHAPE® — SKINSHAPE at SkinRev also uses microwave energy, through the Miglou 2nd-generation system, as a non-medical body contouring session. It suits people who want a simple, needle-less contour treatment for a mild pocket. Onda Pro is performed by Dr Sin Yong within a medical assessment, which makes more sense when fat, cellulite and laxity overlap, or when medical factors need checking. Read more
What to expect
Consultation, session
and aftercare
At consultation, Dr Sin Yong examines the areas, checks fat thickness and skin quality, and asks about your weight history, medical conditions and any implants. Photographs and measurements are taken. Onda Pro may be used alone or combined with other body treatments, and a course is usually planned at consultation, depending on the area and what you want to change.
During treatment the handpiece is moved over the area with the cooling system running. Most people feel deep warmth, with occasional hotter moments over thinner tissue or near bone. No anaesthetic is used. Afterwards the skin is usually pink and warm for a few hours, and the area may feel tender or slightly swollen for a few days; light exercise is fine, but very hot baths should wait. Changes are reviewed with photos and measurements, and individual results vary.

What the research says
The evidence,
with sources
Most published research on Onda comes from small studies by experienced users. In a retrospective study of 20 people treated on the abdomen, three-dimensional imaging showed a significant reduction in abdominal circumference and volume three months after the final session, and the treatment was well tolerated. In 26 women with moderate to severe cellulite on the buttocks and thighs, cellulite severity scores improved significantly at three months, alongside small reductions in circumference and no serious side effects.
An international advisory board of Coolwaves users has published practical recommendations on settings, patient selection and treatment protocols, while openly noting that long-term efficacy and safety data are still missing. That is a fair summary of the evidence for Onda Pro Singapore patients considering it: early results are consistent and side effects are generally mild, but the studies are small, mostly uncontrolled and short in follow-up.

Common questions
Your questions,
answered
Onda Pro Singapore: is it a laser or radiofrequency?
Neither. Onda Pro uses microwave energy at 2.45 GHz, delivered through DEKA's Coolwaves handpieces with a built-in cooling system. Lasers work with light and radiofrequency with electrical current, while microwaves are a different part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The aim is to concentrate heating in the fat layer and its connective bands while the skin surface is kept cool.
How much does Onda Pro cost?
Pricing is given at consultation at IN Eternity Clinic, because it depends on the areas treated, what the assessment finds and whether Onda Pro is combined with other treatments. You see the plan and cost before deciding. If you would like a non-medical microwave option for a mild pocket, SkinRev's SKINSHAPE is S$288 per zone.
Does Onda Pro hurt?
Most people describe a deep warmth that builds during each pass, with brief hotter moments over thin areas or near bone. No numbing cream or anaesthetic is used, and the cooling system protects the skin surface. Settings can be adjusted during the session. Afterwards, some tenderness or slight swelling for a few days is common and usually mild.
How many Onda Pro sessions will I need?
A course is usually planned at consultation. The number depends on the area, the thickness of fat, whether cellulite or laxity is the main concern, and how you respond. Results develop gradually over several weeks after each session, so Dr Sin Yong reviews progress with photographs and measurements before deciding whether more treatment is worthwhile.
Can Onda Pro treat cellulite?
It can soften the appearance of cellulite for many people, because the heat remodels the fibrous bands that pull the skin into dimples and firms the skin above. Small studies have shown improvement in cellulite severity scores a few months after treatment. Cellulite has several causes, including hormones and genetics, so it tends to return over time and may need maintenance.
Is the fat loss from Onda Pro long-lasting?
Fat cells damaged by heat are cleared by the body, so the treated layer becomes thinner. The remaining fat cells can still grow if you gain weight, which is why keeping a stable weight matters. Long-term data on microwave body contouring are still limited, so how long the result holds varies between individuals and is discussed at consultation.
