Aesthetic treatments for men jawline, double chin, skin, hair and body, explained plainly

More men in Singapore are asking about their jawline, a double chin, oily skin, thinning hair or a stubborn waistline. The causes are the same as in anyone, but planning differs. Here is what each concern usually involves, what SkinRev Lab can do, and when a doctor is the right first step.

Quick answer

  • The most common men's aesthetic concerns are a softening jawline or jowls, fullness under the chin, oily or congested skin, razor bumps, thinning hair and stubborn fat around the waist. Each has more than one possible cause, so assessment comes before treatment.
  • At SkinRev Lab, CityLink Mall: SKINLIFT® for jawline and under-chin (30 minutes, Face S$888, Double Chin S$488), men's facials such as HydraFacial (from S$288), men's waxing (S$28 to S$118, GST included), and SKINSHAPE and SKINSCULPT for the body (S$288 per zone or region). Other prices are before GST.
  • Dr Sin Yong, SkinRev Lab's Medical Adviser, performs VF Lift, his radiofrequency vertical facelift protocol, himself at SkinRev Lab. Injectables, prescription hair-loss treatment and medical lasers are done by him at IN Eternity Clinic, Pacific Plaza. These are priced at consultation.
  • Men's skin is generally thicker and oilier, and male muscles are often stronger, so devices and doses are planned differently and the aim is usually a defined contour rather than a softened one.

What differs

What is different about aesthetic treatment for men

Men still make up a minority of people having non-surgical cosmetic treatments, roughly 10 to 20% in survey data, but that share is growing. The concerns themselves are familiar; what changes is the planning.

A review of studies comparing male and female skin found that hydration, water loss through the skin, sebum, blood flow, pigmentation and thickness are generally higher in men. In practice that means oilier, more congestion-prone skin, a beard area that changes how energy devices and waxing are used, and often stronger facial muscles. Most men also want a sharper, more defined contour, so a jawline or chin is not softened or narrowed the way it might be for a woman.

Dr Sin Yong's guide for men covers the medical side in more depth, including hair loss, a wide jaw, acne scars, eye bags and sweating.

Jawline and jowls

A softer jawline and early jowls

A blurred jawline in men usually comes from loosening support under the skin, with some fat settling along the jaw, and sometimes from bone or a short chin. Energy-based lifting suits mild to moderate laxity; heavy sagging is a surgical question.

SKINLIFT® is a needle-free lifting session using multi-sequential pulsed ultrasound aimed at the support layers beneath the skin, done at SkinRev Lab. Each session takes 30 minutes with no numbing, and most people go straight back to work. SKINLIFT® Face is S$888 per session before GST, planned as a course. Changes from energy-based lifting are gradual and modest; in a study of focused ultrasound, average brow elevation at 90 days was under 2 mm.

VF Lift, Dr Sin Yong's Volnewmer monopolar radiofrequency vertical facelift protocol, is performed by him personally at SkinRev Lab, CityLink Mall, and priced at consultation. Which suits you, if either, is decided at assessment, taking the beard area into account.

Wide jaw and chin

A wide jaw, a weak chin, and why the cause matters

A wide lower face can come from a bulky masseter muscle, from bone shape, or from fat. A clench test helps tell them apart: muscle firms up at the jaw angle when you bite down, bone does not change, and fat stays soft. Only muscle bulk responds to jaw-slimming injections, and no injectable changes bone.

A short or recessed chin can make the jawline and neck look fuller than they are. Chin augmentation for men is planned for a broader, squarer chin. Jaw-slimming injections and chin filler are medical treatments, performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic and priced at consultation.

Double chin

Fullness under the chin

A double chin can be fat, loose skin, the position of the neck muscle (platysma), or a short chin, and a recessed chin and a full neck look alike in a photograph. The cause decides what helps.

For mild under-chin fullness with some laxity, SKINLIFT® Double Chin (30 minutes, S$488 per session before GST) is one option. Where soft fat is the main issue, SKINSHAPE, Miglou UHF microwave contouring, can treat a double chin or lower-face zone (S$288 per 15 × 15 cm zone, first zone S$88, before GST). Both are planned as a course. If the chin itself is short, contouring the fat will not change the profile much, and a doctor's opinion is more useful.

Skin

Men's facials for oil, blackheads and post-shave skin

Oilier, thicker skin tends to congest, especially in Singapore's heat and humidity, while daily shaving leaves the beard area dry or irritated. HydraFacial Syndeo (45 minutes; Signature S$288, Deluxe S$388, Platinum S$438 before GST, with a first-timer rate at the counter) cleanses, extracts by suction and hydrates, and most men go straight back to work.

For red or reactive skin, SKINLDM (about 30 minutes including a basic facial, S$288, first visit S$68) is gentler. For texture and post-acne marks, the needle-free Rejuran® PDRN Facial runs 60 to 90 minutes from S$128. Painful or cystic acne and acne scars need a doctor first.

Hair removal

Razor bumps, men's waxing and longer-term hair reduction

Razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis barbae) happen when shaved, curved hairs grow back into the skin. A 2026 expert consensus recommended changing hair-removal habits as the first step, with targeted topical treatment and procedures such as laser hair removal where needed.

Men's waxing at SkinRev Lab covers the chest, back, stomach, underarms, legs and Boyzilian, in a private room, priced in four bands from S$28 to S$118, GST included. Let hair grow to about 5 mm first. For lasting reduction rather than repeat waxing, laser hair removal is performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic and priced at consultation.

Hair loss

Thinning hair and a receding hairline

Most thinning in men is androgenetic (pattern) hair loss, which is progressive. European evidence-based guidelines set out medical treatments with the strongest evidence, and treatment works on follicles that are still alive, so earlier assessment preserves more. Sudden shedding, patchy loss or a sore, scaly scalp needs a doctor before anything else.

Medical hair-loss treatment, including prescriptions, H2LT laser and Regenera Activa, is provided by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic and priced at consultation. At SkinRev Lab, Rejuran® Scalp Care supports scalp condition and scalp micropigmentation (SMP) can create the look of density; neither regrows hair. SMP is priced at consultation.

Body

Stubborn waistline fat and core tone

Many men who train and eat reasonably still keep a pocket of fat at the flanks or lower abdomen. Two non-invasive approaches at SkinRev Lab target different things. SKINSHAPE uses Miglou UHF microwave energy on localised fat and mild laxity, about 30 minutes per 15 × 15 cm zone. SKINSCULPT uses high-intensity electromagnetic stimulation to contract the abdominal, buttock or thigh muscles, about 30 minutes per region, fully clothed. Each is S$288 per zone or region before GST.

The evidence is encouraging but early. In a 20-patient retrospective study of a microwave device, abdominal circumference and volume fell at three months. In a 22-patient MRI study of electromagnetic muscle stimulation, fat thickness fell by about 19% and muscle thickness rose by about 15% at two months. Both studies were small, and neither treatment is weight loss; visceral fat inside the abdomen is a health issue for a doctor.

Practical

Fitting it into a working week

SkinRev Lab is at CityLink Mall #B1-28, underground between City Hall and Esplanade MRT, open daily from 11am to 8pm, so most face and body sessions fit into a lunch hour or after work. Your first visit starts with a short assessment by an Aesthetic Specialist, who will tell you plainly if something needs a doctor rather than a device.

Medical treatment is at IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza, beside Orchard MRT, three stops from City Hall on the North-South line.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

What is the most popular aesthetic treatment for men?

In survey data, wrinkle-relaxing injections are where men's demand has grown most. In practice, the concerns men bring are usually a softer jawline, a double chin, oily skin, thinning hair and stubborn waist fat.

Can men get a non-surgical jawline lift in Singapore?

Yes, for mild to moderate laxity. SKINLIFT® at SkinRev Lab takes 30 minutes with no numbing, S$888 per session before GST, and Dr Sin Yong performs VF Lift himself at SkinRev Lab, priced at consultation. Heavy sagging is a surgical question.

How can a man get rid of a double chin without surgery?

It depends on the cause. Fat may respond to SKINSHAPE microwave contouring, mild laxity to SKINLIFT® Double Chin, and a short chin to chin augmentation by a doctor. An assessment tells you which applies.

Is a facial worth it for men?

For oily, congested or post-shave irritated skin, a regular facial such as HydraFacial every four to six weeks can help, alongside daily sunscreen and a simple routine. It will not treat deep acne or scars, which need a doctor.

Do men's aesthetic treatments look obvious?

They should not. Men usually want a defined contour rather than a softened one, so treatments are planned to keep masculine features. Assessment and conservative dosing matter more than the device.

How should men treat thinning hair?

See a doctor early. Most male thinning is pattern hair loss, and medical treatment works on follicles that are still alive. Dr Sin Yong assesses this at IN Eternity Clinic. SMP at SkinRev Lab can add the look of density but does not regrow hair.

Does men's waxing hurt, and how long does it last?

It stings briefly, and often less on later visits. Smoothness lasts a few weeks, and most men come back every four to six weeks. Men's waxing at SkinRev Lab is S$28 to S$118 per area, GST included.

Can non-invasive treatments remove a beer belly?

Not if the bulk is visceral fat inside the abdomen, which needs diet, exercise and medical advice. SKINSHAPE and SKINSCULPT can help a localised pocket of fat under the skin or core tone; they are not weight loss.
