HydraFacial for men in Singapore: oily skin, pores, shaving and what to expect

Men's skin tends to be oilier, with larger-looking pores and irritation from shaving. Here is what a HydraFacial can and cannot do for it, how to time it around shaving, how often to go, and what each tier costs at SkinRev Lab.

Written & medically reviewed by Dr Sin Yong · 30 October 2026

Quick answer

  • HydraFacial works the same way for men: it cleanses, exfoliates, lifts out blackheads and congestion with vortex suction, and infuses hydrating serums in about 45 minutes. It suits oily skin, enlarged-looking pores and blackheads, with little downtime.
  • Shave the day before rather than the morning of your session, so freshly shaved skin is not irritated. The therapist works carefully around the beard area.
  • It does not treat cystic acne, acne scars or ingrown hairs; those need other treatments or a doctor. Results are temporary, and every four to six weeks is a common rhythm.
  • At SkinRev Lab, CityLink Mall (City Hall MRT): Signature S$288, Deluxe S$388, Platinum S$438 before GST. Signature, the core protocol, is the usual starting point for oily, congested skin.

Men's skin

How men's skin differs

On average, men's skin produces more oil and is thicker, and pores often look larger, especially across the nose, cheeks and forehead; studies link larger-looking pores with higher oil output. In Singapore's heat and humidity, oil, sweat and sunscreen build up during the day, and blackheads and congestion follow. Many men also deal with irritation from shaving: redness, stinging after a blade, and spots along the jaw and neck. Our main HydraFacial Singapore page covers the treatment, the three tiers and booking at CityLink Mall.

Skin that feels oily can still be dehydrated, particularly after long hours in air-conditioning or with harsh, stripping cleansers. Stripped skin often feels tight and can look dull, and over-cleansing tends to make oiliness worse rather than better.

Those are the problems a cleansing and hydrating facial can help with. Deeper problems, such as cystic acne, scarring or recurring ingrown hairs, need a different plan.

What it does

What a HydraFacial does for men's skin

A HydraFacial cleanses and gently peels the surface with a mild glycolic and salicylic acid blend, lifts out blackheads and congestion with vortex suction, and then infuses hydrating serums. For oily, congested skin, that means emptied pores, less surface oil for a while, and a smoother, more even look, without the squeezing of a manual extraction facial.

Salicylic acid in the first step helps clear excess oil from the pores. The hydration step matters too: well-hydrated skin feels more comfortable after shaving, and freshly shaved skin often feels tight and dry.

It is quick and practical. A session takes about 45 minutes, most men go straight back to work, and there is little downtime. Results vary, and the clearer look fades over days to a couple of weeks as pores refill.

Your first visit

What happens at a men's HydraFacial session

Your first visit starts with a short skin check. Your Aesthetic Therapist asks about your routine and shaving, any medicines such as isotretinoin or retinoids, recent sunburn, and recent laser or injectable treatments, then suggests a tier. If HydraFacial is not right for your skin that day, they will say so.

The treatment follows the three HydraFacial steps. You feel a cool tingle as the skin is cleansed and gently peeled, then a wet, pulling sensation as congestion is lifted out, most noticeably over the nose and chin, then a soothing serum step. Very sensitive skin can look slightly flushed for up to an hour.

There is no need to plan time off. Most men go straight back to work. On the day, skip saunas, steam rooms, very hot workouts and long sun exposure, and keep the routine gentle for a day or two.

Limits

What HydraFacial does not do for men

It does not treat cystic or scarring acne. Deep, painful spots are worked around rather than extracted, and they need a doctor's assessment and treatment. If you are taking isotretinoin, or stopped recently, exfoliating facials are usually postponed because the skin stays more fragile for months.

It does not resurface acne scars, clear pigment or tighten a softening jawline. For those, the usual options are medical treatments such as lasers or RF microneedling performed by a doctor, or a lifting treatment.

It does not fix ingrown hairs. A facial can clear surface congestion and leave the skin better hydrated, but hairs that curl back into the skin are a shaving and hair-growth problem. Inflamed bumps should not be extracted at a facial.

Shaving

Timing your HydraFacial around shaving

Shave the day before your HydraFacial rather than the morning of it. Freshly shaved skin can sting when the acid step and suction pass over it, and a day's gap gives it time to settle.

After your session, keep the routine gentle for a day or two: no scrubs, peels, acid toners or retinoids, and wear sunscreen. If you have a beard, the therapist works carefully around it; the treatment is mainly for the skin that is not covered.

If you get razor bumps or ingrown hairs along the jaw and neck, mention it when you book. The therapist will not extract inflamed bumps, and our ingrown hair guide covers shaving technique and what else helps.

Frequency

How often men should have a HydraFacial

Every four to six weeks is a common rhythm for oily, congested skin. Going more often than every two weeks adds no benefit. Before an event, book two to five days ahead rather than on the day.

Between sessions, keep the routine simple: a gentle cleanser twice a day, a light non-comedogenic moisturiser, daily sunscreen, and a salicylic acid product a few times a week if your skin tolerates it. Harsh scrubs and over-cleansing tend to make oiliness worse.

What you do between sessions decides how long the clearer look lasts. A facial is maintenance, not a cure for oily skin.

Tiers and price

Which HydraFacial tier suits men's skin

All three tiers run on the HydraFacial Syndeo at SkinRev Lab, take about 45 minutes, and are the same for men and women. Prices are per session, before GST; 9% GST applies.

Signature covers the three core steps and is the usual starting point for oily, congested skin. Deluxe adds a targeted booster, for example for congestion or hydration, with LED support. Platinum adds further treatment steps throughout. The JLo Beauty Booster can be added to any tier for S$68 if dull, dehydrated skin is the main concern.

Other options

Other facials and treatments for men

If your skin is sensitive or reacts easily after shaving, SKINLDM, a calming facial, may suit you better than an exfoliating one. If you want a facial built around skin quality over a course, the Rejuran® PDRN Facial is the other main option at SkinRev Lab.

For concerns beyond a facial, such as acne scars, pigmentation, excessive sweating or laser hair removal, Dr Sin Yong (MBBS Singapore, MRCS Edinburgh, MSc Practical Dermatology Cardiff) assesses and treats at SkinRev Lab, CityLink Mall, and at IN Eternity Clinic, Pacific Plaza. Medical treatments are priced at consultation.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

Is HydraFacial good for men?

Yes, for oily skin, enlarged-looking pores, blackheads and dehydration. It cleanses, extracts with suction and hydrates in about 45 minutes, with little downtime. It does not treat cystic acne, acne scars or ingrown hairs, and results are temporary.

Should I shave before a HydraFacial?

Shave the day before rather than the morning of your session. Freshly shaved skin can sting during the acid step and suction, and a day's gap gives it time to settle.

Does HydraFacial help with ingrown hairs?

Not directly. It can clear surface congestion and hydrate the skin, but ingrown hairs are a shaving and hair-growth problem, and inflamed bumps are not extracted at a facial. Shaving technique, and for some men laser hair removal, help more.

Can a HydraFacial shrink large pores?

It empties pores, so they look smaller and cleaner for a while. They refill with oil over the following weeks, so pore size itself is not changed for good. Regular sessions and a simple routine help keep them clear.

How often should men get a HydraFacial?

Every four to six weeks is a common rhythm for oily, congested skin. Going more often than every two weeks adds no benefit.

Which HydraFacial tier should men choose?

Signature (S$288 before GST) is the usual starting point for oily, congested skin. Deluxe (S$388) adds a targeted booster and LED, and Platinum (S$438) adds further steps. Your Aesthetic Therapist suggests a tier after checking your skin.

Is HydraFacial for men different from HydraFacial for women?

The protocol, tiers and prices are the same. The therapist adjusts for men's skin, for example by working carefully around the beard area and choosing serums for oil and congestion.

How much is a HydraFacial for men in Singapore?

At SkinRev Lab, HydraFacial Syndeo is S$288 for Signature, S$388 for Deluxe and S$438 for Platinum, before GST, for about 45 minutes. With 9% GST, that is S$313.92, S$422.92 and S$477.42.

Where can I get a HydraFacial for men near me?

If you work or live around the city centre, SkinRev Lab offers HydraFacial for men at #B1-28 CityLink Mall, linked underground to City Hall and Esplanade MRT; Raffles Place, Bugis and Dhoby Ghaut are one MRT stop from City Hall. A session takes about 45 minutes. Open daily, 11am to 8pm; WhatsApp +65 8266 9585 to book.
