Lifting facial in Singapore what a facial can firm, and what needs energy to lift

Lifting, sculpting and V lift facials promise a sharper jawline in an hour. Some of that is real but short-lived; lasting lift comes from heat that reaches the deeper layers. Here is how to tell the two apart, what SkinRev Lab offers, and when a doctor is the better first stop.

Quick answer

  • A lifting facial in Singapore usually means sculpting massage, gua sha, microcurrent or LED light, which can make the face look firmer and less puffy for hours to a few days. It does not rebuild the deeper support layers, so the effect fades unless it is repeated.
  • Lasting lift needs energy that heats the deeper layers, such as focused ultrasound or radiofrequency (RF), so collagen contracts and then remodels over two to three months. A review of microfocused ultrasound measured brow lifts of about 0.5 to 1.7 mm: a real but modest change.
  • At SkinRev Lab, CityLink Mall: SKINLIFT® Face S$888 and SKINLIFT® Double Chin S$488 (needle-free focused ultrasound), SKINTIGHT S$588 per zone, and massage-led Rejuran® PDRN Facials from S$128, all before GST. Dr Sin Yong performs VF Lift (monopolar RF) at SkinRev Lab, priced at consultation.
  • Heavy jowls, folds of loose skin, neck bands or hollow cheeks need a doctor's assessment, and marked sagging is surgical territory. A face that suddenly droops on one side is a medical emergency: call 995.

The term

What a lifting facial in Singapore usually includes

There is no fixed definition of a lifting facial. In Singapore the name covers three quite different things: a hands-on sculpting or lymphatic massage, sometimes with gua sha stones or rollers; a facial that adds a device such as microcurrent or LED light; and energy-based lifting treatments, such as focused ultrasound or radiofrequency, that are sometimes sold under the same label.

The first two work mainly on fluid, muscle tension and how the skin surface reflects light. The third heats the dermis and deeper support tissue so that collagen contracts and then remodels. That is why one looks good for an evening and the other changes slowly over months.

Knowing which one you are being offered tells you what to expect, how long it will last and what it should cost.

Massage and gua sha

Sculpting massage and gua sha: a firmer look that fades

Massage moves fluid towards the lymph nodes and eases tight muscles, so the face can look less puffy and more defined straight afterwards, especially after a late night or a salty meal. The effect is real, but it is mostly fluid and tension, and it fades over hours to days.

The research is small. In a randomised trial, 34 women used a facial roller or gua sha at home for 10 minutes, five days a week, for eight weeks; measured facial contour distances fell by about 2 to 3 mm in both groups, with no untreated comparison group. In a CT study of five adults who massaged twice daily for two weeks, the top of the cheek moved by about 4 mm on average.

A 2025 systematic review of 12 studies of facial exercise and massage in 321 women found improvements limited to specific areas, mostly self-rated, and judged the evidence insufficient to confirm that these techniques work. Massage should be gentle on skin that bruises easily, and avoided over inflamed acne, broken skin or recently injected areas unless your doctor agrees.

Devices in a facial

Microcurrent and LED: what they can and cannot lift

Microcurrent facials pass a very low electrical current across the face through probes or gloves, and are marketed as muscle toning. The claims come mainly from device makers, and we found no large, independent controlled trials showing a lasting lift. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, have epilepsy or are pregnant, check with a doctor before using one.

LED uses low-level red or near-infrared light. In a controlled trial, 113 volunteers treated twice a week for 30 sessions had less skin roughness and higher collagen density on ultrasound than 23 untreated controls. That is a change in skin quality, built over months, rather than a lift.

Microcurrent is not on SkinRev Lab's menu, and there is no stand-alone LED facial. LED is a supporting step in HydraFacial Syndeo Deluxe (S$388) and Platinum (S$438) and in the Rejuran® Korea Professional facial (S$298), before GST.

Energy-based lifting

Ultrasound and radiofrequency: how heat builds collagen

Collagen contracts when it is heated to roughly 60 to 70 °C, and the skin's healing response then lays down new collagen over the following weeks to months. Focused ultrasound places that heat at set depths, down to the SMAS, the fibrous layer that facelift surgery tightens, at about 4.5 mm on the face. Radiofrequency warms a broader volume of the dermis and the fibrous strands beneath it.

A systematic review of 16 studies of microfocused ultrasound in women found measurable tightening, such as brow lifts of about 0.5 to 1.7 mm. Investigators rated 92% of patients improved at 90 days, while patients themselves rated the change as mild, and very loose skin or a BMI above 30 was linked with poorer results. In a study of 50 people with mild to moderate cheek or neck laxity, one radiofrequency treatment gave significant improvement in most, still evident at six months.

These are modest, gradual changes. Results vary, and they need maintenance because ageing continues.

V lift facial

V lift facial: what a V-shape facial can change

A V lift facial is usually a sculpting massage aimed at the jawline and cheeks, sometimes with a firming mask or a device. It can reduce puffiness for a while. Whether it changes the shape of your face depends on why the lower face looks wide.

Three causes are common: a large chewing (masseter) muscle at the jaw angle, pinchable fat under the chin and along the jaw, and loose skin that blurs the jawline. No facial slims a muscle or removes fat.

A large masseter is treated with jaw slimming injections, a prescription treatment performed by Dr Sin Yong at IN Eternity Clinic and priced at consultation. Pinchable fullness can be treated with SKINSHAPE face zones at SkinRev Lab (S$288 per zone, first zone S$88, before GST), and early laxity suits SKINLIFT®.

Combining and timing

Pairing a facial with a lift, and how often

A facial and an energy-based lift do different jobs, so they are often planned together: a facial for clarity and hydration, a lift for the jawline. A common pattern at SkinRev Lab is to alternate Rejuran® PDRN Facial sessions with SKINLIFT® sessions across a course, or to keep a HydraFacial every four to six weeks alongside it. Your Aesthetic Specialist plans the order and spacing.

For a one-off event, a massage-led facial or a HydraFacial a few days before gives a fresher look on the day. Energy-based lifting needs weeks to show, so start it two to three months ahead rather than in the week before.

If you have had fillers, threads or other injections recently, tell both teams the dates, so treatments over the same area are spaced sensibly.

When it is medical

When sagging needs a doctor, not a facial

Lifting facials and non-surgical energy treatments suit early to moderate laxity. The signs below point to a doctor's assessment first, because the answer may be volume, a different device, threads or surgery.

Dr Sin Yong assesses these at IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza, beside Orchard MRT, where HIFU, radiofrequency, threads and fillers are priced at consultation. Facelift surgery is performed by plastic surgeons, and he can explain when a referral makes sense.

  • Heavy jowls, or folds of loose skin along the jaw or neck.
  • Visible neck bands, or loose skin that hangs under the chin.
  • Hollow cheeks or temples, where lost volume rather than sagging is the main change.
  • Upper eyelids that droop enough to affect your view.
  • Lumps, pain or uneven results after fillers or threads.
  • A face that droops suddenly on one side, with weakness or slurred speech: this is an emergency, so call 995.

Questions to ask

Questions to ask before booking a lifting facial

A lifting claim is easier to judge once you know which layer is being treated, and how. These questions are fair to ask any provider, including us.

A provider who answers plainly and puts the total price in writing is easier to trust than one who promises a new face in one session.

  • Is my concern puffiness, loose skin, fat or muscle, and how did you decide?
  • Which device is used, at what depth, and who operates it?
  • Should I expect the effect to last hours, weeks or months?
  • How many sessions are realistic, and what is the total with GST?
  • What redness, tenderness or downtime should I plan for?
  • When would you send me to a doctor instead?

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

What is a lifting facial?

A facial aimed at a firmer, more defined look, usually using sculpting massage, gua sha, microcurrent or LED. It reduces puffiness and eases tight muscles for a few hours to days. For a longer-lasting lift, you need treatments that heat the deeper layers and prompt collagen, such as focused ultrasound or radiofrequency.

Does a lifting facial really work?

For a short-term firmer look, often yes. For a lasting lift, the evidence is weak: a 2025 review of facial massage and exercise found small, mostly self-rated improvements and called the evidence insufficient. Energy-based treatments have better evidence for modest, gradual tightening.

What is a V lift facial?

Usually a sculpting massage for the jawline and cheeks, sometimes with a firming mask or a device. It can ease puffiness, but it cannot slim a large chewing muscle, remove fat under the chin or tighten loose skin. Those need jaw slimming injections, fat-reduction treatment or energy-based lifting.

How long does a lifting facial last?

Massage-based results usually last hours to a few days, because they are mostly fluid and muscle tension. Energy-based lifting develops over two to three months as collagen remodels and lasts months, with maintenance sessions.

What is the difference between a lifting facial and HIFU?

A lifting facial works on the skin surface, fluid and muscles. HIFU places heat at set depths down to the SMAS layer so collagen contracts and remodels, giving a modest lift over months. At IN Eternity Clinic, HIFU is performed by Dr Sin Yong and priced at consultation; SKINLIFT® at SkinRev Lab is a needle-free focused ultrasound option at S$888 for the face, before GST.

Can a facial get rid of jowls?

No. A facial can make the jawline look sharper for a day or two by easing puffiness. Early jowls can improve with energy-based lifting over a course; heavier jowls with loose skin may need threads, restored support or surgery, assessed by a doctor.

How much is a lifting facial in Singapore?

At SkinRev Lab, massage-led Rejuran® PDRN Facials are S$128 to S$208, SKINLIFT® is S$888 for the face and S$488 for the double chin, and SKINTIGHT is S$588 per zone, all per session before GST. VF Lift and doctor-led treatments are priced at consultation.

Is a lifting facial safe?

Massage and LED are low risk for most people. Avoid massage over inflamed acne, broken skin or recently injected areas unless your doctor agrees, and check with a doctor before microcurrent or radiofrequency if you have a pacemaker or other implanted device, or are pregnant.

When should I see a doctor about sagging?

When there are heavy jowls, folds of loose skin, neck bands, hollow cheeks or uneven drooping. Sudden drooping on one side of the face with weakness or slurred speech is an emergency: call 995.
