Guide · Pigmentation removal price
Pigmentation removal price in Singapore what you are paying for, and why the diagnosis comes first
Two people can pay very different amounts to treat ‘pigmentation’, because they have different pigment. Here is what drives the cost, how many sessions each type tends to need according to the evidence, and how to compare quotes without being sold a package before anyone has named the problem.
Quick answer
- Pigmentation removal price in Singapore depends mainly on what the pigment is, how deep it sits, how many sessions it needs, and whether it is treated by a doctor with a laser or with non-medical facials. A few sun spots may need one or two laser sessions; melasma and Hori's naevus need a longer plan.
- The evidence gives rough guides: in one study of sun spots in Asian women, 93% of spots cleared by more than 75% after a single picosecond laser session; Hori's naevus usually needs at least four laser sessions; melasma needs a course plus maintenance because it often returns.
- Laser pigmentation removal is a medical treatment. At IN Eternity Clinic, Pacific Plaza, Dr Sin Yong performs Pico Laser, Laser Toning, R2 Glow Laser and Alexandrite Laser after diagnosing the pigment, and these are priced at consultation by the clinic.
- For dullness and mild uneven tone, SkinRev Lab at CityLink Mall offers HydraFacial Syndeo (S$288 to S$438), Needleless SkinBooster (S$288 per region) and the Rejuran® PDRN Facial (S$128 to S$348), before GST. These do not remove defined spots or treat melasma.

Name the pigment before you compare prices
‘Pigmentation’ covers several different conditions. Sun spots and freckles sit near the surface and often respond quickly. Melasma is driven by sun, heat and hormones and is managed rather than cured. Post-acne marks often fade on their own. Hori's naevus sits deep in the skin and needs a series of specific laser sessions. Raised, waxy seborrhoeic keratoses are growths that are removed rather than lightened.
So a price quoted before anyone has examined your skin is a price for a treatment, not for your problem. Many people also have more than one type, such as sun spots sitting on top of melasma, which changes both the plan and the cost.
A few spots that look like sun spots are not. Any spot that is new, changing, itchy, bleeding or irregular should be examined by a doctor before any treatment.
Cost drivers
What drives pigmentation removal price in Singapore
- Pigment type: sun spots, melasma, post-acne marks and Hori's naevus need different lasers and different numbers of sessions.
- Depth: pigment in the outer layer usually clears faster than pigment in the dermis.
- Area: a handful of spots costs differently from treating the whole face.
- Number of sessions: the biggest multiplier, and the hardest to know before a diagnosis.
- Who treats it: medical lasers are performed and priced by a doctor; facials and boosters are non-medical and priced per session.
- The laser and settings chosen: wavelength and pulse type are matched to the pigment, not to a menu.
- Supporting treatment: prescription creams, sunscreen and review visits are part of a melasma plan.
- Maintenance: melasma and freckles tend to return with sun exposure, so upkeep is part of the real cost.
- Managing side effects: darkening after treatment (PIH) can add time if it happens.
Sessions by type
How many sessions each pigment type tends to need
Session counts are the part of the price most people underestimate. The figures below come from published studies and dermatology guidance; they are averages from small groups, not a promise for your skin.
| Pigment type | Usual medical route | What the evidence suggests | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sun spots (solar lentigines) | Pico, Alexandrite or Q-switched laser | Often one or two sessions: in one study, 40 of 43 spots cleared by over 75% after one picosecond session; the rest needed two | Small study of 20 Asian women; new spots can form with sun |
| Freckles | Pico or R2 Glow laser | Usually respond like sun spots | Tend to darken again with sun, so maintenance is likely |
| Melasma | Low-energy laser toning or 1064 nm pico, with prescription creams and sun protection | A course, then maintenance; dermatology guidance says results usually take 3 to 12 months | Recurrence is common; over-treatment can cause pale patches or darkening |
| Post-acne marks (PIH) | Acne control, sunscreen, gentle brightening; laser only if stubborn | A mark a few shades darker than your skin usually fades within 6 to 12 months once the cause stops | Deeper marks can take years |
| Hori's naevus | Q-switched or picosecond laser | Usually at least four sessions; more sessions linked with better clearance | Evidence certainty very low; temporary darkening is common |
| Seborrhoeic keratosis | Removal after a doctor's examination | Removed rather than lightened | Brightening treatments will not flatten it |
Doctor or facial?
Medical laser vs non-medical care: what each price buys
The cheaper option is not cheaper if it cannot reach the pigment. Equally, a laser is unnecessary for dullness that a facial and sunscreen can fix. The diagnosis decides which column you belong in.
| Medical laser (IN Eternity Clinic) | Non-medical care (SkinRev Lab) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who performs it | Dr Sin Yong | Trained Aesthetic Specialists |
| What it can treat | Sun spots, freckles, melasma (as part of a plan), Hori's naevus, stubborn post-acne marks | Dullness, dehydration, mild and superficial uneven tone |
| What it cannot do | Cure melasma; prevent new sun damage without sunscreen | Remove defined spots, treat melasma or Hori's naevus |
| How it is priced | At consultation by the clinic, after diagnosis | Fixed per-session prices, before GST |
| Usual downtime | Redness for hours; treated spots may darken and flake for days | Usually none; brief flushing possible |
IN Eternity Clinic
Laser pigmentation removal in Singapore at IN Eternity Clinic
At IN Eternity Clinic, 9 Scotts Road, #12-01 Pacific Plaza, beside Orchard MRT, Dr Sin Yong chooses the laser and settings after examining the pigment and asking how your skin has reacted to past treatments.
Pico Laser (T2 Frax Radiance) uses picosecond pulses that break pigment mainly by pressure rather than heat, for sun spots, freckles, uneven tone and post-acne marks. Laser Toning uses low-energy 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG passes to fade scattered pigment over a course, with conservative settings. R2 Glow Laser is a gentle brightening course on a Fotona Nd:YAG platform. Alexandrite Laser (755 nm, long-pulsed) targets flat, defined sun spots and freckles and is not used for melasma.
All are priced at consultation by the clinic, because the laser, settings and number of sessions depend on your pigment. WhatsApp IN Eternity Clinic on +65 8815 3008, or ask SkinRev Lab to pass on your enquiry.

Maintenance
Maintenance: the cost people forget
The sun that created the pigment keeps prompting more. Singapore's National Environment Agency advises extra care between 11am and 3pm, with sunscreen of at least SPF 30, shade, a broad-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses. For dark spots and melasma, dermatology guidance also suggests a tinted sunscreen containing iron oxide.
Budget for this alongside the treatment. Melasma tends to relapse with sun, heat or hormones and needs ongoing care; freckles darken again with sun; new sun spots can form. A plan that ends at the last laser session is rarely the whole cost.
Be cautious with cheap creams bought online. Singapore's Health Sciences Authority has found mercury in lightening creams and warns that hydroquinone is prescription-only here.
Risks
Risks that add cost: PIH and over-treatment
Asian skin darkens easily after inflammation, and pigment lasers can trigger this post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). It usually fades, but it adds weeks or months and sometimes extra treatment. Conservative settings, no treatment while tanned and strict sun protection reduce the risk.
More sessions are not always better. A systematic review of low-fluence Q-switched laser toning for melasma found it generally effective, but reported persistent mottled pale patches linked with high cumulative energy, and darkening when used aggressively in darker skin. A Hong Kong case series described 14 women with mottled depigmentation after 6 to 50 toning sessions, sometimes after only a few. A large, cheap package of frequent toning is not a bargain if it causes this.

Common questions
Your questions,
answered
How much does pigmentation removal cost in Singapore?
It depends on the pigment type, its depth, the area and the number of sessions. Laser pigmentation removal at IN Eternity Clinic is priced at consultation after Dr Sin Yong has examined the pigment. At SkinRev Lab, facials for dullness and mild unevenness run from S$128 to S$438 per session, before GST.
How many sessions does laser pigmentation removal take?
It varies by type. A few sun spots often need one or two sessions; Hori's naevus usually needs at least four; melasma needs a course followed by maintenance. Post-acne marks often fade without laser within 6 to 12 months once breakouts are controlled.
What affects the price of laser treatment for pigmentation in Singapore?
The type and depth of pigment, the size of the area, the number of sessions, the laser and settings used, whether supporting creams and review visits are included, and the maintenance needed afterwards. A doctor can only estimate these after examining your skin.
Is laser pigmentation removal permanent?
Treated sun spots often stay away with good sun protection, but new ones can form. Freckles tend to darken again with sun. Melasma is chronic and often returns with sun, heat or hormones, so it needs maintenance. No one can promise permanent removal.
Why does melasma need more sessions than sun spots?
Sun spots are defined collections of pigment near the surface that a laser can target directly. Melasma is an ongoing condition driven by sun, visible light, heat and hormones, so treatment combines gentle laser, prescription creams and sun protection over months, and relapse is common.
Can a facial remove pigmentation?
No. Facials can brighten dull skin and support fading of mild, recent post-acne marks, but they do not remove defined sun spots, Hori's naevus or seborrhoeic keratoses, and they do not treat melasma. Those need a doctor.
Is a cheaper pigmentation package worth it?
Only if the diagnosis is right. A package bought before anyone has identified your pigment may be the wrong treatment, and frequent aggressive toning has been linked with mottled pale patches. Ask what the pigment is, who treats it and what happens if you need more sessions.
Does pigmentation come back after laser?
It can. Melasma often relapses, freckles darken with sun, and new sun spots form with continued UV exposure. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30, shade and a hat lower the chance and protect what has been achieved.
