GF Lift (Girl's Friend Lift) adds external firming and brightening to the radiofrequency steps of G Lift. R2 Glow and T2 Frax lasers are used on the external skin of the vulva, bikini line, groin folds and inner thighs, never on the mucosa. Women usually ask about it for a feeling of looseness alongside darker or uneven skin. Dr Sin Yong performs it at SkinRev Lab as an outpatient procedure, with no incisions and no general anaesthesia.

Darkening of the bikini line, groin folds and inner thighs usually comes from friction, shaving, waxing or hormones. A feeling of laxity is often linked to childbirth and to falling oestrogen around menopause. GF Lift is one option among several, and it sits alongside, not in place of, a proper gynaecological assessment.

How it works

The mechanism,
in plain English

The radiofrequency step uses a slim, single-use-covered applicator in the vaginal canal, moved in passes while the tissue is kept within a controlled temperature range. Heat in the deeper layers is intended to contract existing collagen and prompt new collagen over the following weeks. Most women feel this as warmth.

On the external skin only, R2 Glow gives gentle, repeated toning of surface pigment and texture, and T2 Frax, a fractional picosecond mode, targets skin texture and deeper pigment. Brightening is gradual and works best with friction control and the home care plan you are given. GF Lift does not treat prolapse, and it does not replace surgery for significant structural change.

Energy / product
Radiofrequency with an internal applicator, plus R2 Glow and T2 Frax lasers on external skin

About 20 to 30 minutes, plus 10 to 20 minutes for the laser steps

Is it right for you

Who it suits,
and who it does not

GF Lift may suit women who notice a feeling of looseness after vaginal delivery or around menopause, and who also have darker or uneven skin on the bikini line, groin folds or inner thighs. It suits women who want a non-surgical option and understand that any change is gradual and varies between individuals. GF Lift is not a treatment for urinary leakage.

Treatment is not done during pregnancy, with an active vaginal or urinary infection, during a herpes outbreak, or with unexplained bleeding, which must be investigated first. Cervical screening should be up to date; if it is overdue, it is arranged beforehand. Pelvic organ prolapse and significant leaking need assessment, as GF Lift is not a prolapse treatment. Pigmentation on darker skin types needs conservative settings, and this is assessed before the first session. Women with serious local or systemic illness need individual advice. Vaginal hormone treatment remains the established medical option for menopausal symptoms, and that is discussed honestly as well.

Non-invasive alternative at SkinRev Lab

SKINGLIFT® — SKINGLIFT at SkinRev is an external radiofrequency and muscle-stimulation protocol for intimate tone and the pelvic floor, with no internal probe and no laser. It focuses on surface tissue and muscle rather than the vaginal lining, so it does not address dryness in the same way. Women with symptoms such as pain, bleeding or recurrent infection should see a doctor first. Read more

What to expect

Consultation, session
and aftercare

At consultation, Dr Sin Yong asks about your symptoms, periods or menopause status, pregnancies and births, bladder symptoms, sexual comfort, medical history and any cancer treatment. An examination checks the vaginal tissues and looks for prolapse or infection, and cervical screening status is confirmed. You discuss GF Lift alongside other options. If it fits, a course is usually planned at consultation, timed outside your period, with maintenance considered later.

During the session you lie as you would for a smear test. The radiofrequency step takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and the external laser steps add about 10 to 20 minutes. Topical numbing can be used for the laser steps if needed. Normal daily activity can usually continue, and lasered skin may be mildly red for a day or two. Avoid intercourse, tampons and swimming for the short period you are advised, and wear loose clothing while the skin settles. Individual results vary.

What the research says

The evidence,
with sources

Research on radiofrequency for vaginal laxity includes a sham-controlled trial. In the VIVEVE I randomised trial, women given a single surface-cooled radiofrequency treatment were about three times more likely than women given a sham treatment to report no vaginal laxity at six months. That trial used one specific device and settings, so its result does not automatically apply to other devices.

A 2024 systematic review with meta-analysis of treatments for vaginal laxity reported that pelvic floor muscle strength improved after intervention, and that radiofrequency and laser improved sexual function in observational studies but not in randomised trials. Evidence for lasers on intimate skin tone is limited, and brightening is gradual. This means GF Lift may help some women, but it is an option to weigh carefully with a doctor rather than a certainty.

Before any intimate treatment

A women's health check comes first

Intimate treatments at SkinRev Lab start with a medical history, not a device. Dr Sin Yong first checks that nothing needs a gynaecology assessment instead.

Dr Sin Yong holds the Professional Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), and brings that training to every intimate wellness consultation at SkinRev Lab.

See a doctor or gynaecologist first if you have:

Cervical screening in Singapore (Screen for Life): women aged 25 to 29 who have ever been sexually active should have a Pap test every 3 years, and women aged 30 to 69 an HPV test every 5 years. If yours is overdue, it is arranged before treatment.

What regulators say: on 30 July 2018 the US FDA warned that it had not reviewed or approved energy-based devices (lasers and radiofrequency) for "vaginal rejuvenation", and reported cases of vaginal burns, scarring, pain during sex and recurring or chronic pain. Treatments at SkinRev Lab are options to weigh with a doctor, with these risks explained first.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

What is GF Lift?

GF Lift (Girl's Friend Lift) combines internal radiofrequency with R2 Glow and T2 Frax lasers on the external skin of the vulva, bikini line, groin folds and inner thighs. It is performed by Dr Sin Yong at SkinRev Lab after an intimate health check. The evidence is limited and results vary.

What is the difference between G Lift and GF Lift?

G Lift is internal radiofrequency for a feeling of laxity and dryness. GF Lift adds R2 Glow and T2 Frax lasers on external skin for firmness and uneven tone. Dr Sin Yong will explain which suits you, if either does.

How much does GF Lift cost?

Pricing is given at consultation at SkinRev Lab, after Dr Sin Yong has assessed you and confirmed that GF Lift is suitable. You see the full plan and cost before deciding, and alternatives are discussed openly.

Is GF Lift painful?

Most women feel warmth during the radiofrequency step, and no anaesthetic is needed for most patients. Topical numbing can be used for the laser steps if needed. Tell Dr Sin Yong straight away if anything feels uncomfortable.

Can laser brighten dark skin in the intimate area?

R2 Glow and T2 Frax may gradually lighten pigment on external skin such as the bikini line, groin folds and inner thighs. They are not used on the mucosa. Darker skin types need conservative settings because of the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, and results vary.

Does GF Lift help with urine leakage?

No. GF Lift is not a treatment for urinary leakage. Leaking urine on most days needs a medical assessment, and Dr Sin Yong will refer you when that is the right next step.

Who should not have GF Lift?

GF Lift is not done during pregnancy, with an active infection, during a herpes outbreak, or with unexplained bleeding, which must be investigated first. An overdue cervical screen is arranged beforehand.

When can I have sex after treatment?

Avoid intercourse for the short period you are advised on the day, along with tampons and swimming. If you notice heavy bleeding, fever or worsening pain, contact the clinic promptly.
