HydraFacial before an event: timing for weddings, Chinese New Year and race week

A HydraFacial is a common way to look fresh for a big day, but timing matters. Here is when to book before a wedding, Chinese New Year or an event during Grand Prix week, what to avoid in the final fortnight, and how to plan a short series.

Quick answer

  • Book your HydraFacial two to five days before the event, not on the day or the day before. That leaves time for any flushing to settle and for a small spot to surface and calm down as congestion clears.
  • Have your first HydraFacial weeks before an important date, not just before it, so you know how your skin responds. For a wedding, a session every four to six weeks in the months before, with the last one two to five days ahead, is a common plan.
  • In the final two weeks, start nothing new: no new peels, retinoids, lasers, facial waxing or injectables.
  • SkinRev Lab is at CityLink Mall, linked underground to City Hall and Esplanade MRT, open daily 11am to 8pm. A session takes about 45 minutes.

Timing

When to book a HydraFacial before an event

Most people's skin looks clearer, smoother and better hydrated straight after a HydraFacial, with little downtime. So why not book it the day before? Sensitive skin can look flushed for up to an hour, and as congestion clears, a small spot or two can surface over the next few days. Booking two to five days ahead gives both time to settle while the fresh look is still there.

The outer layer of skin also needs a little time. In a small imaging study, the outermost layer was thinner straight after hydradermabrasion, and had returned to its usual thickness, looking more even, two weeks later. In practice, that is one more reason not to stack a HydraFacial with make-up trials, waxing or other treatments on the same day.

If it is your first HydraFacial, do not save it for the week of the event. Have one a few weeks earlier, see how your skin responds, and then repeat it closer to the date.

Weddings

Before your wedding

For a wedding, think in months rather than days. Problems that need a course or a healing phase, such as acne, pigment or scarring, should be started six to twelve months ahead, with a doctor where needed. HydraFacial fits the last few months: a session every four to six weeks keeps congestion and dehydration under control.

Plan the final HydraFacial two to five days before the wedding, and keep the pre-wedding shoot in mind too: if it is weeks earlier, book a session a few days before that as well. Perk Lip and Perk Eye can be added for the lips and the skin around the eyes.

Keep your make-up trial separate from your facial day, and tell your make-up artist about any treatments you have had.

Festive season

Before Chinese New Year

In 2027, Chinese New Year falls on Saturday 6 February, with the second day on the Sunday. Reunion dinner, visiting and family photos come in quick succession, so many people want their skin at its clearest in the last few days of the old year.

Book early. Aim for a HydraFacial about three to five days before reunion dinner, and avoid anything new in the fortnight before. If you would like a series, start in late December or early January, about four weeks apart.

The late nights, rich food and air-conditioned visiting that follow can leave skin dull and dehydrated. A HydraFacial in the week or two after Chinese New Year is also a sensible reset.

Race week

Events during Grand Prix week

The Singapore Grand Prix is held on the Marina Bay Street Circuit; in 2026, the race weekend was 9 to 11 October. If you are hosting clients, attending events or working near the circuit that week, treat it like any other important date and book your HydraFacial two to five days before.

Some roads around Marina Bay and the Civic District close during race week, so allow extra time. CityLink Mall runs underground between City Hall and Esplanade MRT, so the train is usually the simpler way to reach us; check the Land Transport Authority's road closure notices before you travel.

Hot, humid evenings outdoors mean sweat, sunscreen and make-up all day. A gentle routine and a light, non-comedogenic sunscreen help keep pores clearer during the week.

The final fortnight

What to avoid before an important date

If you are pregnant, taking isotretinoin, or have had a recent laser or injectable treatment, tell us when you book so the therapist can adjust or postpone the treatment.

  • No new treatments in the last two weeks, including peels, lasers, microneedling and injectables.
  • Pause retinoids, acid toners and scrubs for a few days before your HydraFacial.
  • Avoid facial waxing or threading close to the HydraFacial.
  • Avoid sunburn: wear sunscreen daily and reapply outdoors.
  • Do not pick at anything that surfaces after the session.

Yes, make-up can go on the same day. If your skin looks flushed, wait an hour.
