How often should you get a HydraFacial? and how long the results last

How often you have a HydraFacial decides how steady your results are, and whether you are paying for sessions your skin does not need. Here is the usual rhythm by skin type and goal, what happens to your skin between sessions, and how to tell when more is too much.

Quick answer

  • For most people, every four to six weeks is a sensible rhythm for a HydraFacial, roughly in step with how quickly pores refill and the outer layer of skin renews.
  • For congestion or a specific goal, a short series closer together is common, such as three to six sessions two to four weeks apart, then monthly. Published studies spaced sessions 7 to 14 days apart.
  • Results usually last from several days to a couple of weeks. In one imaging study, the changes beneath the surface had returned to baseline at two weeks.
  • Having one more often than every two weeks, over the long term, adds no clear benefit and raises the chance of irritation.

The short answer

How often to get a HydraFacial, by skin and goal

There is no single right interval. The rhythm below is a starting point; your therapist adjusts it after seeing how your skin responds to the first session on the HydraFacial Syndeo.

  • Upkeep for normal or combination skin: every four to six weeks.
  • Oily skin, blackheads or congestion: every two to four weeks for a few sessions, then every four weeks.
  • Before an event: one session two to five days before; start a short series six to eight weeks ahead if you want steadier skin on the day.
  • Sensitive or rosacea-prone skin: no more than every four to six weeks, with a gentler protocol.
  • Dehydrated skin from air-conditioning or travel: every four weeks or so, alongside a better moisturiser at home.

Between sessions

Why four to six weeks: what your skin does between sessions

A HydraFacial works on the outer layer of skin and inside the pores. Both change steadily after a session. Pores refill with oil and dead cells over days to weeks, faster in oily skin. The outer layer of skin renews continuously, so the smoothness from the peel step gradually gives way to new surface cells.

A 2024 imaging study shows this timing. Straight after hydradermabrasion, the outermost layer was thinner and more even; at two weeks it was back to its original thickness, and the stretch seen in the upper dermis had also returned to baseline.

Hydration follows a similar curve. Hyaluronic acid holds water in the skin, and serums containing it help the surface feel more supple, but the effect of a single infusion is temporary. A moisturiser you use every day does more for hydration over a month than one facial.

Results timeline

How long HydraFacial results last

Results vary with skin type, oiliness, routine and sun exposure. In Singapore's heat and humidity, oily skin may feel congested again sooner, while long days in air-conditioning tend to dry the surface.

  • The same day: pores look emptier, skin feels smoother and looks more hydrated. Make-up can go on.
  • The first week: smoothness and a fresher look usually hold. Pores begin to refill.
  • Weeks two to four: skin drifts back towards how it was before. Congestion returns at your usual rate.
  • After four to six weeks: most people are ready for the next session if they want to keep the effect steady.

Planning a course

A starting series, then maintenance

The published studies used series, not single sessions. In a 2008 randomised study, women had six hydradermabrasion treatments 7 to 10 days apart. In a 2022 acne study, adults had six HydraFacial clarifying treatments, one every two weeks for 12 weeks. Both reported smoother or clearer skin over the series; neither shows what happens with long-term weekly sessions.

A practical plan for a specific concern such as congestion is three sessions two to four weeks apart, then one every four to six weeks. For general upkeep, start at four to six weeks.

Tier choice matters less than rhythm. Signature suits regular upkeep; Deluxe or Platinum adds a targeted booster and LED support when you are working on one concern. Your therapist will say if a lower tier is enough.

Too much

When more often is too much, and how to make results last

Skin that is over-treated tells you. If you notice any of the signs below, space your sessions further apart and tell your therapist. To help each session last longer, wear sunscreen daily, use a gentle cleanser and a non-comedogenic moisturiser, and do not pick at congestion between visits.

  • Redness that lingers well beyond the day of treatment.
  • Stinging when you apply products you normally tolerate.
  • Flaking, tightness or a rough, sensitised feel.
  • New breakouts or bumps in areas that were clear.

Common questions

Your questions,
answered

How often should you get a HydraFacial?

Every four to six weeks for most people. A closer series, every two to four weeks, can help congestion before you move to a monthly rhythm.

Can you get a HydraFacial every two weeks?

Yes, for a short series aimed at congestion, as in the published acne study. For long-term upkeep, it is more than most skin needs.

Can you get a HydraFacial every week?

It is not usually advised. Studies spaced sessions 7 to 14 days apart for a limited series; weekly sessions over a long period raise the chance of irritation without clear benefit.

How long does a HydraFacial last?

The fresh glow lasts a few days, and smoother, clearer skin usually a couple of weeks. After that, pores refill at their usual rate.

How many HydraFacial sessions do I need?

One session shows the effect. A series of three to six, two to four weeks apart, is common when there is a specific concern such as congestion.

Is a monthly HydraFacial worth it?

For congestion-prone or dehydrated skin, many people find a monthly session keeps their skin steadier. It is optional; daily skincare matters more.

How long does a HydraFacial session take?

About 45 minutes for every tier at SkinRev Lab. Perk Lip or Perk Eye adds about 15 minutes.

Should I get HydraFacials more often in Singapore's humidity?

Oily skin may feel congested sooner in heat and humidity, so some people prefer every three to four weeks. Air-conditioned offices can dry the surface, which calls for hydration rather than more exfoliation.
